Searching the Office Icon Gallery

is there an easier way to locate (and therefore reuse) suitable icons from the office icon gallery?
i have downloaded the Office2010IconsGallery.docx but this seems like a rather large and unweildly beast to actually find suitable icons. does anyone know if there is another way of locating correct icons? ie is there a way to filter by relevance (ie charts, documents, etc) whereby i can limit the choice to icons that are suitable for charts, for example?
also, not every icon appears to be available for use... the icons in the Insert Chart dialog in excel do not appear in the either the 2007 or 2010 icons gallery. are these not available for reuse?

Hi Matt,
Welcome to the MSDN forum!
What do you mean about icons "Insert Chart dialog in excel"? In my humble opinion, the "Insert Chart dialog" provides chart templates for us.
Have a nice day.

hi yoyo
i realise that it provides chart templates with which to create a chart, but the dialog contains icons (or images of some sort) which are used to represent the type of chart.
it is these icons (or images) that i refer to.
can i get access to the physical files anywhere?
cheers

Thanks for your response.
Based on my knowledge, I am afraid there is no way. These charts templates are built in templates.
Best Regards,

Hello together,
I do not know if this is an answer for your question but there is a codeproject.com thread regarding the same theme:
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/341415/How-To-Use-Standard-Office-Icons-in-Your-VSTO-Solu
In this thread there are different solutions described how to get information about the office icons. I use the following site:
http://soltechs.net/CustomUI/imageMso01.asp
It is not a perfect solution but you can select a catagory and then use the search function of your browser to find elements that fit your needs. So if I want to see icons for charts I use <ctrl> + <f> and type "chart", then I can step over all results.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Robert

thanks for this robert
in the end we got one of our designers to cut out the images from a screen grab (very gash, i know. but what else are designers for?)
but i will investigate your links and give it a whirl
cheers
