Changing hyperlink color at the layer level within pages

    Question

  • I need to change hyperlink color within a layer.  I can find page properties to set the colors for the PAGE, but need a different color on different layers.  My header is black with white hyperlinks.  The body of the page is white and I would like to have blue hyperlinks.  I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to do this in the CSS properties, tage properties, etc.

  • Assign the hyperlink colors you want using a css class that is applied to the main container for your page.

    Example:

    .myheader a{
    color: white;
    }
    .maincontainer a{
    color: blue;
    }

  • The layers (divs) have id's (if not give them one), so you can set a style for the links for each div id, eg:

    #divname1 a:link

    #divname2 a:link

    etc.

  • Can I do this in design view... point and click in 'tag properties', 'css properties', etc. or do I have to code?  I would prefer to do this in design view if that is possible.

  • No and yes. First make sure your layer has either an ID or a class applied to it.

    Use New Style from the Fomat menu, Apply or Manage Styles task panes.

    Th in the selector box start with the id or class you assigned your layer. Using the example Ian gave that woud be #divname and fllow it by an a. You can then select what properties you want to apply.

    For your rollover do the same thing but add a :hover haver the #divname a:hover to complete your rollover.

  • cheryl,

    after highlighting the layer, i named it: 'LinksMainContainer a' in tag properties -> attributes -> 'id'

    i then followed your suggestions of going to the format menu, new style, and made a color change for links.  it changed the whole page.  i'm not getting how to do this for just the layer while keeping page properties intact.

  • Neither 'CSS Properties', nor 'Tag Properties' contain hyperlink options.  This is only contained in the page properties.  I can see how to assign an id to a layer, but not how to get to hyperlink properties, short of coding.  Any suggestions?
