Convert Dreamweaver to Expression Web?

    Question

  • I fumbled my way through learning EW well enough to produce a web site that actually functioned. The code was pretty sloppy, though, so I sent the site to a friend of a friend who offered to clean it up for me. He did a fine job with the cleanup, but he did the work in Dreamweaver.

I had purchased EW at retail and want to use that for future editing and upgrading of the site. What do I need to do to get his Dreamweaver work back into EW format? (i.e. the master.dwt and default.htm have been replaced with index.htm and style.css).

Thanks so much for any guidance you can offer!

  • You can continue working with his cleaned up pages as they are if you wish. If you want to convert the revised index.htm page back into a DWT you can do that too.

I'd suggest creating a new DWT page in EW and then copy the code from his page into the new DWT.

You'll probably be able to compare your original master.dwt and the revised page and see where the different parts of the page should go.
