Hi,
We have the same issue. Currently WAG cant load DotNetNuke, Wordpress, Or Joomla the 3 most popular APPS ALL FAILING!!!
Can Microsoft fix this?
Can WAG be a stable app with clear easy to use one click installs? ( Yes on the 2nd tuesday of next week)
It's really time to find someone to intgrate http://www.softaculous.com/ into WSP and give up on WAG. WAG is a great concept but its got more bugs, and problems then its worth.
As a hosting business trying to use this in a production environment your only setting yourself up to look bad to your clients that use this product. The WAG is causing more support issues then its worth itsvery embarrassing to use this with clients in production.
Can anyone fix it or is it time to rip out WAG?Hope to get results!

I am also having the same problem, for the life of me I can not add a new "Joomla 1.7" website through WAG, In the past I had no problems (Joomla 1.6 via WAG), I have tried installing the MySQL user first, and the MySQL database first, I have tried all sorts of password combinations, nothing works.... VERY FRUSTRATING !!!!! Running Windows 2008R2 64 bit.
The application could not be installed:
- Error while install application pack
- Error while installing application package: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: inputBryan

miércoles, 26 de octubre de 2011 22:06I've fixed this problem in WSP Server source by just returning true for function IsWebDeployInstalled. I remember that I had some problems with checking if webdeploy is installed and since I was sure that it is installed I've updated this function to return true. Function is located in IIs7.cs file

Webio,
I appreciate your help !!!!
I can not find the IIS7.cs file to edit it ?? I did a server wide search for the file as well as looked around my various DotNetPanel and Website Panel folders.
I do have "Web Deployment Tool" installed, it is version 1.1.0600 (installed 1/25.2010) according to my "Uninstall or Change a Program" Panel. (Maybe I need to update it?)
Any other hints or ideas ?
UPDATE: I also have come to notice that I get the same error messages doing things like "Backing Up" and making configuration changes in WSP as well (adding a new customer and creating hosting space w/email etc. did NOT create any errors though)
Thanks,
Bryan

Webio,
Again I appreciate your input/advice!!!!
I have downloaded the "Source Files" found the IIs7.cs file, found the line regarding Web Deployment, Now I just need to figure out how to rewrite the line (or do I just remove it?) and learn how to compile the source code so I can upload the new file and see if that fixes my problem. (Again everything use to work just fine until I upgraded to 1.2)
I did try updating my Web Deploy to the latest version, as well as tried a host of other things that did not help at all.
Thanks,
Bryan

Well I now have all the "Web Deployment" errors gone after upgrading to the latest version. I have no ERROR MESSAGES in Event Viewer but still can not install Joomla 1.7 using WEB APP GALLERY in Website Panel.
I still get this error at the top of the information FORM after submitting.
The application could not be installed:

I have a guess that the problem might have to do with the Question "Database Server" where you state it is LocalHost or enter in the information, I don't believe this was a question before but as I did a local "Web Platform Installation" of Joomla 1.7 today I see it is now.
I have seen some Joomla install files in WebsitePanel folders, none of the ones I have found appear to be the ones used - as I make minor text changes in them and they don'reflect on the setup page.
Does anyone have an idea where the current Install Script is for v1.20 ??? Is it now part of the zip file that is downloaded when you start the Joomla Install Joomla_1.7.0-Stable-Full_Package-WebPI.zip which can be found here http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsrelease/15633/67773/Joomla_1.7.0-Stable-Full_Package-WebPI.zip
This is in the Application.XML file .
<!-- Prompts the user for the database server name.--> <!-- Note that this parameter has only one parameterEntry element. This parameter is used with the configuration file and the connection string. It is not used within the SQL script itself like the other paramters are. --> <parameter name="DatabaseServer" description="This is usually localhost or a host name provided by the hosting provider." defaultValue="localhost" tags="MySQL, dbServer" > <!-- Parameter substitution --> <parameterEntry type="TextFile" scope="install.sql" match="PlaceHolderForServer" /> </parameter> <parameter name="Automatic DatabaseServer" defaultValue="public $host = '{DatabaseServer}';" tags="Hidden, MySQL" > <parameterEntry type="TextFile" scope="configuration.php" match="public[\s]*\$host[\s]*=[\s]*'[^']*';" /> </parameter>Thanks,
Bryan

yeah right nothing is fixed. Why is my post marked as fixed because it is not!
Still not working and i'm beginning to question the support for this product. Please tell me that it is not another Helm story.....
Also the awstats conf file issue also still not working, no workaround, no fix, no comment from support etc for months!!!
This is very bad for business and for customers that have put their trust in WSP.
-
martes, 01 de noviembre de 2011 23:37Has only done a build and can provide a patches dll for this issue?
-
miércoles, 02 de noviembre de 2011 2:25
Yep.... I got bit with HELM v3 as well,
also purchased DotNetPanel (aka WebsitePanel) just a month or two before it closed up (or bought by Microsoft as I suspect) and went OpenSource.
I was also very upset when they marked this thread as ANSWERED when it was not !!!!!
I was raised since 1984 as a Microsoft user - DOS (with Multiplan and Wordstar) to Windows 3.0 on up, I even have my MCSE, but I have to say the more I deal with Microsoft Support..... THE MORE I PREPARE TO MOVE TO LINUX where opensource is supported and embraced !!!!!

WebIO - I find this strange but, we noticed we had a ton of WSP event log errors regarding the IsWebDeployInstalled not being found. So we installed V2.0 of web deploy and the errors went away. But we are still not able to get joomla installed.
Do you know exactly what the IsWebDeployInstalled function was checking exactly?

Hi everyone,
I noticed this problem by the report from a customer. Then I found this thread. Although I also tried correction, it was impossible for me...
However, I found one hint. I am using original WAG feed in my server. I changed back the version of Joomla to 1.6.3 in the feed. Then I tested the install again, successfully completed. From this result, I think that there is some problem between the package of Joomla v1.7 and WSP.I hope this can help a little.

Ke-i,
What WAG feed are you using, I tried a couple and could not get any to work (one gave me another 1.7 install that did not work either and the other went back to 1.5.5 install.)
Thanks,

Ke-i,
Thanks that helped alot.
For those not as technical savvy this is what I did,
- I went to https://www.microsoft.com/web/webpi/3.0/webapplicationlist.xml and saved the XML to my computer,
- I opened the webapplicationlist.xml and add the feed mentioned in the above post right above Joomla 1.7 listing in the XML file (Or REPLACE Joomla 1.7 would make more sense).
- I saved the file and then upload webapplicationlist.xml to one of my personal websites (myserver.com).
- I opened website panel and went to "Configuration" - "Servers" to my Server that has IIS and clicked "Internet Information Server 7.0" and scrolled down to "Gallery Feed URL" and added the location of my new XML http://myserver.com/webapplicationlist.xml
- Then I had to go to IIS and restart my Website Panel Sites to get the changes to take affect (this took a while to figure out)
Now if you go to Website Panel and to Web Gallery Applications you should see "Joomla 1.6" available to install - which works.
PS: There maybe a better way than what I did - I take no offense to those with suggestions to make it easier.
Thanks,
Bryan

Webio - I tried your suggestion and still no luck. Web deploy 2 is definately installed on the server. I then verified whether or not the IsWebDeployInstalled function was actually returning true and it was. Regardless, I modified the IIS70.cs to make it always return true and deployed the new dll. I'm still getting the same error:
The application could not be installed:
- Error while install application pack
- Error while installing application package: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: inputI am using WSP v1.20 in a multi-server environment. The only application that I cannot get to install is Joomla! 1.7. You seem very astute so I am hoping you have some other suggestions.
Are you able to sucessfully install Joomla! 1.7 using WSP v1.20? If you are then it may inspire me to actually keep working on it. Previous versions of Joomla have worked - just not 1.7.

Hello,
my previous reply should not be marked as answer for this question. In some point of time I had issues with detecting WebDeploy which resulted in similar error as first post in this topic but it looks like in this case problem is somewhere else because I also can't install Joomla 1.7 so my "fix" will not working in this situation.

Hi,
Web Deploy Version: 2
OS : Windows 2008 R2 64bit
WebsitePanel Version: 1.20
Application Pool: 64bit .Net4 Integrated
Everything else installs fine besides Joomla through Web Application Gallery.
Update: I've also tried installing it through Web Platform Installer which works fine. It's just when doing it through WebSitePanel that I have this issue.
Thanks for the help.

Note this will only work if you using your own customer web app gallery list. (XML)
Download : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11533
Extract the joomla file
Edit the parameters.xml file and locate the db prefix sections
Remove the word "hidden" and comma if its there.
Save the file
Recompress all content using same name.
Run fciv -sha1 filename
It will provide you with a new sha1 hash - replace your current one in your webapplication.xml file if local on portal server ,etc.
Replace the link.
Remove old joomla file in WSP Server App_Cache folder
Recycle WSP application pool on web server so it repulls new xml file and then retry.
