jueves, 09 de junio de 2005 14:22Hi all,
Ok, I've just received my beta 2 dvd from ms (vs2005 team system beta 2), and i have to say I'm overwhelmingly confused.
What do I need to install? Where do I install it? The so called Installation Guide just confuses things even more.
So.. from clean install, what do I need to do? It's an xpsp2 machine with IIS6?
I've also just noticed some posts mentioning AD. I don't have win2k3, does that mean I can't use this beta? Can I at all use this beta? Or is it completely useless to me!?

viernes, 10 de junio de 2005 3:03Visual Studio Team System will install and run on Win XP SP2, which runs IIS5.1 BTW. (IIS6 is only available on Windows Server 2003.) This will give you all the usual VS 2005 Enterprise features, but also includes testing tools, code coverage, etc. If you want to take Team Server for a spin, which includes a new source control engine, SharePoint project sites, automated builds, etc., you will need a server running Windows Server 2003 for Active Directory, Team Server, SQL Server 2005, etc. (I haven't checked Beta 2, but Beta 1 required that SQL Server 2005 be on a separate box than Team Server because the .NET Framework 2.0 builds weren't synced between the two products. So you might still need to install on two separate Windows Server 2003 boxes.) Hope that clears up some of the confusion.

So how do I install Team System on Windows XP SP2 ?
How do I create the required users, can I do this through normal user accounts in control panel?
Is there a descent step by step installation for xpsp2 - the guide doesn't make it very easy at all!
