Unable to switch servers at this time, team explorer is busy
-
lunes, 21 de febrero de 2011 17:44I am using 64 bit machine with windows 7 OS. I installed VSTS 2008, Team explorer 2008, VS 2008 sp1, VSTS 2008 sp1 forward compatibility update for TFS 2010 in order. But when i tried to connect to TFS by giving server name it is showing " unable to switch server at this time, team explorer is busy". I used this same setup till now on my old 32bit machine. But when i did this on new 64bit machine, it is showing above msg. On my old machine in TFS, server is not disconnected till now. Shall i need to do it ?

Hi Suresh,
Thanks for posting the issue here!
When you fill in the server name with the URL to your TFS 2010 server, make sure that you do not have a trailing backslash.
For example, if you tried to connect to the Dev10 server with a URL that has a trailing backslash “http://[ServerName]:8080/tfs/” , you will get the message:
"unable to switch server at this time, team explorer is busy".
A better workaround for this issues is to use a server URL that does not have a trailing backslash e.g. "http://[ServerName]:8080/tfs" this should work properly.
Hope it helps!

martes, 26 de abril de 2011 21:39Thanks for that! That one really confused me. I was upgrading several computers and for some reason I put a trailing slash on one of them and couldn't figure it out. Need more coffee maybe.
