TFS 2010 Reports and documents folder not accessible from VS 2008 client

Hi,
We have TFS 2010 installed on one of the Domain machine. VS 2008 clients are accessing TFS 2010 from a work group.
I can ping from VS 2008 client machine (In Work group) to TFS Sever Machine ( In Domain).
We are successfully able to acccess source control from VS 2008 client machine.
Note: I login to my base machine with User1 account (Does not exist in Domain) and while opening VS 2008/2010 I provide Domain Credentials.
Issue: Reports and documents folder in VS 2008 as well as VS 2010 shows red cross Mark. (Connected from work group)
I can access reports by entering Reports URL manully in IE.
I have given Full control to the user on both sharepoint site and reports site. Even its a service account.
Note: I can access both reports and Documents folder from VS 2010 installed on TFS Server machine. (With same User)
Since I dont have any issues on TFS local machine, I suspect that there is no issue with permissions. I suspect there could be network related issue. There is a firewall block for Port: 1433 which is used by SQL server in TFS. We decided to open that port. I am not sure that is going resolve my problems.
Do we need to have Two way domain Trust? Is that compulsary? I have not seen any blog saying we need two way domain trust.
Our company policies will not allow the two way domain trust. What would be the work around?
Any guidance on this would be much appreciated.
Warm Regards,
Prashantgouda.

Hello Prashantgouda,
As you do not have a Red X on Reports or Documents folder with the same user account on the TFS Server machine, I do not think your issue is about permissions. And as you can access the Report and SharePoint server via IE, I do not think your issue is related to block for port or domain trust.
And in my opinion, there may be something wrong with your VS2008 or VS2010. For VS2008, please try to re-install VS2008 SP1 after you install Team Explorer: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=10986 After that, please also try to delete the user client cache under the path: C:\Users\userName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation\3.0\Cache
Thanks.

Hi Vicky,
Thanks for your response.
I have already tried this in 4 machines, 3 machine with VS 2008 with SP1 and 1 machine with VS 2010.
I am not able to clear cache on client machine on the path you mentioned, as the windows user which i am login is different than the user which i used to access VS 2008.
For Ex. windows user login - Workgroup/User1; and open visual studio using Domain\User2
I can't create Domain user in work group.. Kindly advice.
It should have worked when I install New Instance of VS 2010.. but there is no luck even when i installed new VS 2010.
Thanks,
Prashantgouda

Hi Vicky,
One more thing I would like to bring into your notice is that, I can access Reports using Reports URL but the thing is that if I mention machine name insted of IP address in my Report URL it will not open the reports.
For Ex. Say Tfs Server name is TFS01 and IP is 123.123.123.123 then I need to enter url Http://123.123.123.123/Reports to get reports accessed from client machine. If I replace IP Address with machine name i would not be able access reports.

Hi Vicky,
I resolved the above issues by changing the TFS URLs.
I changed the TFS URL from machine name i.e. Http://MachineName to Machine's IP address i.e. Http://123.123.123.123
Then I changed the Sharepoint web application URL with IP address of the machine through admin console.
Then I changed the Reports URL to use IP address instead of machine name through Admin console.
Steps to change Report URL:
1. Open Admin console, go to reporting then EDIT.
2. Change Machine name to IP address in Warehouse Tab, and Analysis Services Tab, test connection should Pass. Provide credentials when asked.
3. Change Machine Name in Report Manager URL and Web Service URL with IP address manually provide password and click Ok. (Waring will be shown you can ignore)
Then Restart all services.
Now connect client machine to TFS, I am able to access TFS Reports and Documents Folder from both VS 2008 and 2010 from work group client machines also.
This might not be the recommended way but it worked 90%.
Still I am getting error in Protal for Task Burn Down and Burn Rate.
But this works fine when I open from team explorer reports folder.
Any help you could provide here.
Warm regards,
Prashantgouda
