Hi, to be able to use TFS power tools, for example the custome policy, should I setup the power tools on the server so thant can be applied to all my developers or should I set it up on one of my client machines, lets VS ultimate and start to apply custom policies for everybody without the need tos setp PT on every dev machine.
The question is in fact : Is there any feature in TFS power tools than needs setup on the TFS server. Thank in advance

I have just tried the following scenario:
On my TFS I have TFS power tools, Custom check in policies are on the server
- on a dev machine, I have power tools as well where I right clicked on the team project > source control and adde the Forbidden pattern and didn' allow anf file with the name file.
- when I tried to check in from VS on this same machine the check in policy worked fine and didn't alloxw me to check in a file name with "file"
-on a 2nd machine, I opened the same project, added a file with a name "file" and I was able to check in without the rule being fired.
So what is the mi,nimal deployment architecture? I was thinking that once it is deploiyed to server, it should work for all developers which seems not the case.
Thanks for your help

Hi Eliassal,
Thanks for your post.
To be able to use the TFS Power Tools Check in policies on developers’ clients, you should install the TFS Power Tools on each client for your developers.
For the Team Foundation Backups and TFS Best Practices Analyzer features, you need install TFS Power Tools on TFS Server machine.

Hi Eliassal,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, you are right, we can perform the best practices scan from the client machine, thanks for your comment.
In fact, I want to mean that the Best Practices Analyzer is the tool work for TFS Server.
