TFS 2010 instance is giving TFS server not available while connecting to TFS server in Team Explorer and while opening TFS Admin Console

Getting the following error mesg, when clickomg on "Team Project Collections" under Application Tier (under TFS Server name).

See attached for the error mesg.

Error says: The type initializer for 'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Server.TeamFoundationRegistryService' threw an exeption. After clicking OK button on that popup error mesg, there are no collection names listed on the right pane window (under Team Project Collections). The bottom part of the right pane window just show only one tab: General where both values for URL and SQL server instance is not showing any values.

When I click on the Application Tier on the left side (tree), for various URLs it's showing an error: [Error retrieving value]. When clicking on "Sharepoint Web Applications", URL values are not listed there. When clicking on "Reporting", it shows "Unknown" with ! mark in front of Warehouse/Analysis/Report Server sections.

    Hi TFS user 2010,

    Thank you for your post.

According to your description of the issue, here are some situations i want to clarify from you to help narrow down the issue:

    1. Would you please share more detail information like log in Event viewer on TFS-AT, log in TFS administration console, try to enable TFS tracing to get more information.
    2. Would you please go to post the screen shot of Application Pools in IIS manager?
    3. Does other users experience the same issue?
    4. Is this TFS 2010 upgraded from TFS 2008?
    5. Could you connect to TFS properly before?

An relate issue for you to refer:

I think, I have seen this kind of issue before and I remember why. When lot of things fails at the same time, it's sometimes very small thing (if you are lucky).

Can you see if you have 0 bytes available :-) on your TFS App machine in one of the drive specially OS drive (C:\). I worked with our OS team person and he ran a disk cleanup tool (Wise Disk Cleaner - this can help in cleaning patch uninstallers and something called Windows Installer Baseline Cache). I also restarted IIS.

The next thing; we both were smiling seeing TFS zooming fast performance.

Thank you, exactly same issue. After getting some space on C drive, issue was resolved.
