Do I need to purchase team explorer eclipse plugin
-
viernes, 24 de febrero de 2012 0:47Hi, my company has the license for team foundation server and team explorer 2010. Some groups use team explorer 2010 to access the source code. We like to use team explorer with eclipse. So I downloaded the TFSEclipsePlugin-UpdateSiteArchive-10.1.0.zip file from web site and followed the instruction to install in eclipse. But when we try to connect to TFS, it asks the product key. what's the product key? Do we need to purchase the plugin separately and that will give the key? or do I need to install team explorer 2010 also?

You will be able to use the Plugin for 90 days. Then you will have to insert the product key or you won't be able anymore to connect to your Team Projects.
Means, you will have to pruchase the Eclipse plugin to get a product key whether or not you install team explorer!

I'm pleased to say that just last night we changed the licensing terms so that you no longer need to purchase Team Explorer Everywhere seperately as long as you have a valid Team Foundation Server CAL. See Brian Harry's Blog post for more information http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bharry/archive/2012/03/08/even-better-access-to-team-foundation-server.aspx
You should download the latest version from the Download Center to get the version that doesn't require a license key. Install it over the top of your existing trial install. You can download the latest version of TEE 2010 SP1 from here http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=244643.
You could also try the TEE 11 Beta from here if you wanted, that also will not require a license key. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=237275
