What exactly is BISM connection?

Where exactly we use in SSRS?

From MSDN "A BI semantic model connection (.bism) is a portable connection that connects Excel or Power View reports to an Analysis Services tabular model database on a network server or a SharePoint farm" http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg471575(v=SQL.110).aspx

Those are used in SSRS to create Power View reports
