    Hi Guys,

I'm relatively new to Sharepoint 2010 and have been asked to put together a 'briefings' page. The main page will show briefings that have been approved by our management but this is where I'm getting stuck:

I've created a link ("Click here to add a briefing") which opens a pop-up that the user can type in their briefing and the all the relevant information etc...

On this pop-up I'd like to add a dropdown which the user can select what Line of Business the briefing is applicable to, that way when submitted the briefing is sent to the approver relevant to that line of business.

I'm not sure if this can be done in Sharepoint or InfoPath, does anyone have a step-by-step guide how to do this?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Many Thanks,

    Daniel.

    Hi,

You can achieve this using the New/Edit list forms in SharePoint list. As part of your design, create the fields Line of Business (Choice), Briefing (Multiple Lines of Text) as part of your custom list (Briefings). Modify the link "Click here to add a briefing" to open the New Item Form of the Briefings list. Fill up the values and click on ok.

Associate a content approval/approval workflow on the Briefings list in order to send email to the user appropriate to the Line of Business.

Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you require more details.

    Thanks, Suneetha

As some things work differently in SharePoint 2010 than in previous versions, you should consider moving this topic to the proper newsgroup to avoid confusion. This is the PRE-SharePoint 2010 group.
