Lookup column from a list with custom columns

Question

I have a custom lookup column but it does not display the custom columns I have in the list I am pulling from.

I have a custom list named "Story Lists" based off the Announcements content type. In this list there is a custom column named "Storytype" it is a drop down with values. I want to use these values to populate another dropdown in another list. When I create the lookup field I see the "Story List" I want to ge the data from but only title,expires,ID modified,created,version, and title(link to item) are listed. Not Storytype.

Any ideas?

It seems that choice values are not supported for use as additional columns.

But I just tested it out here to create a lookup field to a task list and the dropdowns "priority" and "status" are also not showing.
