Installation freezes
-
sábado, 11 de noviembre de 2006 11:58I have been attempting to install the .NET framework on an XP Pro machine, but it continues to freeze. First I attempted to install v2, but now have been directed to use v1.1 for work. I was given a cleanup tool, but this has not helped. There appears to be registries for v2 in my system. The installation cointinues to freeze and now my CPU is cranking at 100% all of the time (plus Norton has identified a common .dll as a virus). Any thoughts?

Disable norton as AV software do block installations!
I would first do a scan on the system to make sure you do not have viruses. After that, I would turn off Norton and start installing .NET Framework 1.1, then re-enable norton. .NET Framework is not a virus no matter what it reports (after scanning the system for viruses and finding and removing them), some AV Software are sensitive than others.

Actually, I had to uninstall my AV software, go offline, uninstall all upates and frozen installations, reinstall them, and even so, I am having error messages for partial install/uninstall states. A bit of a mess.
Does anyone know of an installation cleanup tool?

One thing to try is to get your original copy of .NET Framework 2.0 (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa731542.aspx) and reexecute it.
You will be given the options of repair and uninstall. Choose repair. Then run again and choose uninstall.
