Mobile Device 5/6 Emulator setup

I am trying to setup a Windows Mobile emulator on Vista x64 so it can access the network, but I have not been successful so far.
I have the 64-bit version of Virtual PC 2007 installed for the virtual network driver, and the NE2000 networking emulator is enabled on each emulator device I tried.
I installed Mobile Device Center 6.1 in case it installed files, but as per the new rules, I am NOT cradling the emulator.
I installed the Windows Mobile 6 SDKs & Images (Std & Pro)When I try to access a network path in Pocket PC 2003 (\\server\share), i get prompted for the network user name & password.
I enter this information, and it connects successfully.
When I try this same procedure with either of the "USA Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC R2 Emulator" or "USA Windows Mobile 6 Professional Emulator" devices, I constantly get a "Logon Failed" message, even though I am using the same credentials.
Note that I did verify that each device I tried was given an IP address by the DHCP server and can browse an internal website. This is a first step I need to get working to ensure that we can properly debug the application we have created.
Note that I do not have this problem on Windows XP.Any assistance that can be provided is greatly appreciated. Note that this is with the emulator which is why I thought I should log it here.
Thank you
Shaggee

According to that it is a known issue from over 2 years ago with WM 5/6, has never been fixed, and currently the only known solution is to purchase a 3rd party File Explorer app to do what should already work but doesn't.
That is just wrong. It doesn't really explain why I do not have a problem on my Windows XP machine, unless there is more information inferred to by that article that I don't get.
Thanks for that info. If anyone has any further info, I would be greatful to hear it.

That's probably because XP is by default allowing obsolete version of NTLM while modern OS do not. Fix may be as simple as registry change:
There more setting you can try tweaking described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823659

It appears as this may be the case. I tested again with my XP machine and found that I could access shares on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, but not on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2008, or Windows 2008 R2.
In the past the only network shares I tested with were on a Windows Server 2003 machine.Unfortunately, this does not explain with Microsoft has not provided a fix for this in Windows Mobile 5 or 6.
Does anyone know if this works correctly in Windows Mobile 6.5? I have not had a chance to test this.
