AnswerSQL Azure online logins timing out

While I'm sure this is a temporary problem, I wanted to confirm it was in fact affecting more than just me. I currently am unable to log-in to the SQL Azure online management portal (sql.azure.com). I can access my Azure databases without issue, but the online login is consistently timing-out (only for sql.azure.com, other Live ID sites, like this one, work fine).

I expect this problem will likely self correct, but it inspired me to re-ask the question I've seen posted a few times before:

Is there (or will there be by PDC) an online dashboard that indicates the known network status of the various Azure services? Most other hosting companies provide similar health status indicators and they are very helpful for debugging system outages vs. local network issues.

The same is here. It has been for couple of hours like this. And the most important thing that I noticed is that for a while I could not get connected to my database, which should never happen since it is clustered, etc.

Well, it's "good" to know on one hand that it seems to be widespread (maybe system wide?) login problems (i.e. it's not just me). On the other hand, it's not so good that online logins have been down for nearly 3 hours (at least) without any "official updates." I fully expected the problem to be a "hiccup" that would self resolve in minutes (maybe an hour), but at this point it's nearly half a day wasted and wondering.

Hopefully A) logins will be back online soon, and B) we'll get some type of update from MSFT regarding the current issue.

I have high hopes for the cloud, but these experiences don't leave you with the confidence in high available hosting you need...

    ...Starting to connect the dots...

Today is the start of the SQL PASS conference, a big showcase for SQL Server and SQL Azure. Surely it's not coincidence that SQL Azure's login page is completely unavailable for the better part of day when the SQL PASS conference starts. I'm guessing now either A) some type of uncommunicated change / planned outage designed to coincide with the conference, or B) overwhelmed servers due to conference attention.

Either way, I'm getting nervous about the length of this outage. I've got a planned SQL Azure webinar tomorrow and I can't very well do it if I can't access SQL Azure. :)

Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing an unplanned outage.  There is a sticky note posted in this forum with more details.
