QuestionSharepoint creates duplicate records in Contact List

I'm currently using MOSS 2007 with Outlook 2007.  I created a Contact List within Sharepoint and copied my contacts into the list, I then linked the list to my Outlook, but when I do this Sharepoint creates 3, 4 or even 5 duplicates of every entry and while synchronizing it slows down my Outlook heavily.  Any ideas to what might be causing the duplicate contacts in the list and how to prevent this from happening again?

I'm having the exact problem, and haven't been able to find anyone who has the solution.  I need to copy 5,000 contacts from an Outlook contact list into a SharePoint contact list, and I end up with up to 6 duplicate records.  Has anyone seen this before?

We saw same issue with more than 3000 contacts but couldn't repro it with a smaller number of contacts. My guess is that with large number of contacts if the process is not finished first time and is interruptted, the process will run again and generate duplicates.

Try to make sure you give the outlook enough time before closing the outlook.

Try export contacts to Excel sheet then import these contacts to list.

Also having this issue.  It seems that when I copy items from my calendar to a calendar list, all works fine.  Next time I open Outlook however, it starts to copy them again!

Can anybody shed any light on this?
