Can anyone provide me with more insight on why this error occured? Here is some more information from my event logs.

I am not sure if these are related but the LogParser error happened about 20 min before the applicationhost.config error showed up in my logs.

I get both of these errors listed here pretty constantly. Does anyone have a fix?

Me too. When creating a package without creating the ftp user at first everything is fine. Temperary solution is to create ftp user afterwards.

    Hi Guys,

By default when you create a hosting space within a user account ut takes the user accounts name for the FTP user name.
If it is longer than 20 charichters in length then it will fail.

To see if this is the case choose the Custom Account Name within the FTP section when you are creating the Hosting Space and type the FTP username in manually as the test box will NOT let you put a value in longer than 20 digits in length (even if you paste it in there from the clipboard)

Hope this helps, but if not then please let me know.

Has anyone at Microsoft been able to look into this issue?

Server was unable to process request. ---> Filename: \\?\C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\config\applicationHost.config
    Error: Cannot write configuration file

This happens just trying to create a website.

    Hello victor,

I would say it might of been better for you to start your own post given the starting date of this one.

    but:

    1) Can you create sites using IIS manager on that server?

    2) If you can.. you might want to check if the correct permissions/ groups are set for the WSP Users.

    3) If none of those work.. you might want to provide more information..

    For example:

Is it a normal User or Active Directory users?

    Windows version ? (32/64bit)

Did it ever used to work? or is this a new setup?

Got anything like CAS installed on the server? or just a simple setup

All in one setup? or are portal/Server on different locations?

    Regards,

    Marco

Can you check if you have some scheduled tasks running at the moment you try to create a website ( bw and disk space statistics ) . We've encountered the same issue couple of years ago.

Rescheduling those tasks to run at night masked the problem :)
