All of a sudden windows media player wont open, even clicking the shortcut wont work I have tried to uninstall it but it wont let me so I downloaded windows media player 12 but I got a box saying I already have a newer version installed, but I cant find it.So I am stumped what to do next.i am operating windows 8 ie 10 64 bit I also have real player installed which I paid for but as some of the answers suggest uninstalling real player might get media player working.Allan

Hi There Allan.
Windows 8 has Windows Media Player 12 integrated "off the bat".
Just trying to get the clear picture, you tried Clicking "Computer" on the desktop assuming you have one, then clicking the "Computer" tab, then clicking on "Uninstall or change a program", then in the left pane "Turn Windows features on or off", then in the dialog box scrolling down to and double clicking on "Media Features", then un-ticking "Windows Media Player", restarted the computer then ticked "Windows Media Player" this time and restarted again?
Kind Regards, A Dippenaar.
