I get an error invalid value for appid in request.
I am using Visual Studio 2008 and Live search API 2.0 beta sdk.
The app id works with direct URL access.

what i'd like to do is use the email address i have created through my host for my website. so i creted a live ID using my own email address... and then when i sign in i can't create an inbox. when i click mail it goes "You don't have an inbox...yet "Sign up for Windows Live Hotmail and get a free, customizable inbox with lots of storage and great security." so i click sign up for live hotmail... and then it brings me to the page "click a windows live ID to sign in" even tho i was already signed in... so i sign in to the live id set up with my email. then it takes me back to the same bloody page!!!!!!!! "You don't have an inbox...yet"

this is thoroughly annoying and frustrating pleaseeeeeeeeeeee help

I have installed Live Search on my mobile device. When I send my directions via SMS to my mobile device, and click on the link, the directions open in Internet Explorer rather than Live Maps. How do I make it so that links open up in Live Maps?

Attempting to collect Process Names from 32-bit app running on 64-bit W2k3 fails

Hi All,

I am having an Application build on Win32 Platform. This application enumerates available processes on the local machine. This application works fine on Win32 however it does not work on 64 bit. It retrieves 32bit process names and fails to get 64bit process names. I read few questions on forums and they say that we cannot access 64bit processes from a 32bit application. However there are few methods such as EnumProcessModulesEx which can access both 32 and 64 processes. This method is available only on Vista 64.
Is there any corresponding API which I can use it on Win2k3 x64 ? or anyother way we can access process names both 32 and 64bit on Win 2k3 x64 computer.
Any help!!!

Hi, I'm playing with Live Search Api 2.0 in my code and I'm using a multi.source type request:

Only news + images contains resuts. Web are empty since this afternoon; I thought it was my code which causes the issue but I tried the SDK sample and I got same pb.

Is this something wrong in Web Service ?

I have written a newsreader for RSS and ATOM feeds and I use the SOAP webservice to allow the user to search for feeds. This worked quite well and the service returned lots of feed results, but lately I don't get any results anymore. I use the "feed:" operator to search for feeds. My query looks like this:

searchRequest.Query = "feed: " + keywords;

What am I doing wrong? Why don't I get any results anymore?

ok well basically ive downloaded the newest msn (vesrsion 14.0.8050.1202) and it wont sign me in.

if i go to options > connectivity - it has the message: You are currently not connected to .NET messenger service.

and i have no idea what to do.

i tried uninstalling/reinstalling/redownloading it, no luck,
i tried version 4.7 (4.7.3001) and that works fine.

when i click sign in, i just get a message like the error report send to microsoft.

it says something like

windows live communications platform has encounted a provlem and needs to close.

please help <3

live search just return max 10 results?

I use live search service in my application. It can return results, but the max results are 10 rows even I search "ASP" or ".net" these kind of hot keys. Is anyone knows why?

All,
I am not sure what MS is trying to do here, but turning off the gateway to ebay one minute, and turning it on another minute makes no sense. When I use google, I get predictable behavior. Not so with Live.

So, why does Live go to ebay one minute, and pretend ebay doesn't exist the next?
Why do you have to refresh a few times to get that gold coin?

Hi,

I have to integrate Live Search in my web based project. We have to support keyword search for a group of sites.
The Live Search API that I downloaded uses:
http://api.search.live.net/search.wsdl to get the results.

While Live Search Interactive SDK at:http://dev.live.com/livesearch/sdk/
The above uses: http://soap.search.msn.com/webservices.asmx?wsdl

There is a difference in no of results returned; msn returns more results when I search for a group of sites.
Also live.net omits certain site results while msn does display results related to them.

Which one should i use in my project.

Please guide.

I'm trying to access json through api.search.live.net in IE 7 and it's failing. Mozilla has no problems. Is there a plugin or something I need to know about?

Hello All,

I have a simple directory lookup application (C#) on my mobile 6 device for which I'd like to add mapping capability. Now, since I have Live Search installed on my mobile device, I don't want to recreate that functionality, but rather just pass the address to the live search application on my mobile device to then do the work for me.

I could call the live search application with Process.Start, but I don't know what parameters to pass in. I'm not sure if this is the right way to do it either?

So my question therefore is: does anyone know the parameters, or a better way to achieve this?

I've posted to the windows mobile forum too, but they suggested it was a question for the relevant applications (I'm also seeing if it is possible with GoogleMaps too, but obviously I'd prefer Live Search if I can...)

Windows Live Search Behind a Firewall

I'm looking into using Windows Live Search to search my 100 page website. I was all set to use Google's similar Custom Business Search product until our security team said I can't use it because Google doesn't supply the IP addresses for their service. The security team couldn't configure the firewall rules to allow access to Google because they didn't know the IP addresses.

So I'm wondering if Windows Live Search will be suitable for my use. Does Windows Search supply a range of IP addresses that the search service uses so that our firewall can be configured properly? I tried searching for this answer but I couldn't find anything.

            I am writing an application for Acoustic Echo Cancellation using DMO in filter mode. I started this as per the document given in SDK.
But I am not getting how the DMO->ProcessInput and DMO->ProcessOutput are getting the data.

            When I pass the data to DMO->ProcessInput externally I got the result as success, But I dont know how to pass the data to
DMO->ProcessOutput or it will internally generates the data after processing is over I not found any documents that will give me the clear cut idea on it.
Please help me to complete my task. as soon as possible.

Windows Live search box issues

My Windows Live Search Box is not working...and the keyword search box on the homepage of my brower is also not working. My internet works. But the only way for me to navigate is to acutally type in a specific address in the address bar. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I am a newbie to the use of Live Search API, and got my AppID yesterday. Unfortunately I haven't been able to make it work so far.
I am trying to get search results for a query in JAVA.
I am using Eclipse with Axis 1.4 and Tomcat 6.0.

I tried the example I downloaded from Microsoft :

When the actual call for search() happens I always get the same exception, if I use Microsoft's servlet or my method:

org.w3c.dom.DOMException: WRONG_DOCUMENT_ERR: A node is used in a different document than the one that created it.

I have tried 2 AppId's and even one like this "fsdfs" just to try, and I get the same thing everytime.

Any clue as to what the problem is?

I got the following result after testing my AppID. The AppID is definitely correct. I createt a second one, and its the same result. Do I have to enable my AppID someway? The HelpURL cannot be found.

I came across the following article that mentions that some parts of the live search API are for commercial users only.

“Inline Answers - Only available for commercial use. This type of search returns information from Encarta, Finance, Weather, and Movie show times.”

Landmarks' locations search ?

Is it possible to use the API to get Location info for landmarks (i.e. Eiffel Tower, France or Statue of Liberty) similar to a Live Maps Search functionality. I have set up a search using QueryLocation and PhoneBook Source Types but have not been successful. Perhaps I am not doing something right.

I installed the PHP example application for the search API and am getting the following error when I try to do a search.

SoapFault exception: [soapenv:Client] Client Error in Search.php:571 Stack trace: #0 [internal function]: SoapClient->__call('Search', Array) #1 /Search.php(571): SoapClient->Search(Object(Search)) #2 {main}

Any suggestions?

SOAP is turned on and I have inserted my App ID into the source file. Line 571 is the line where the SOAP call is actually made.

Hi,
                I'm working on WCF app, where we are using Data-Access Application Blocks 2006 version, the problem, that i'm having is

                1) In Data access application block, i had created new app, new data access app, and I had given server name and Integrated security to SSPI.
                2) In My code, in wcf-service, web.config, i'm had given the same web.config code of data access app. block. and <system.servicemodel> everything is fine.
                3) Now, when I am calling the service, I'm getting error in the function, where I'm creating the data base connection. I debugged the code, and I came to know In the database connection there is an error.
                4) In a Ms-book, I had seen we have to give some security permissions in the sql-server to the account we are using ASPNET account. Actually I'm sure, i am following the book "Microsoft Windows Comm. Foun. step by step". I'm not sure of how to give the permission, I came to know, there will be an sql file, aspnet.sql, which will give the permissions to the database to run WCF Service.

                Can anyone Pls help on this, on how I can approach this issue.

Verizon Business Hijacking Live Search

When typing in a bad url in the address bar of internet explorer 7. IE7 then defaults to live search to find, but Verizon is then changing it to wwwp.find-assist.com. This overrides the default browser search setting. It also seems to affect FireFox (here). I noticed it last week, but didn’t think about it at the time. Then noticed it again today. This seems to be similar to the stunt that Network Solutions did way back in the day and GoDaddy and normal people became outraged.

Frankly this pisses me off and hopefully a lot of other people as well.

One note, is that IE7 must have the “Just display the results in the main window” Advanced Setting checked in section “Search from the Address bar”. I'm also defaulted to Live Search.

Why is it, we always have problems trying to play these games? Now, there's a run time error. It worked okay till last night, October 4,2008. And some of these games haven't worked for months. Don't you have anybody who knows what they are doing? And when we order prizes, it's been months and we haven't even got them. Then when we e-mail you, you take forever to answer and then you give some lame excuse. Why even have these games? We can't play them. Something needs to be done.

Has anyone noticed this new bug: When you receive search results, there is one field that represents an estimate of the TOTAL number of results. For example if you enter the query "microsoft", you can expect a TOTAL results in the millions. But recently the api has been returning the number of results requested (which is typically 10) instead of the total number of matches.
To reproduce, visit the page: http://dev.live.com/livesearch/sdk/
The default query is "Seattle Mariners". You would expect a large number of TOTAL results. But the interactive demo says "Displaying 1 to 10 of 10 results". In other words, it says that the total number of results in the entire www is 10!
Will the dev team be fixing this bug soon? We noticed this bug about 12 hours ago.

msm api returning less than 50 results for keyword search

hi

i m using msn search api for keyword search .i have set the count varrable at 50 value . that means it will returns 50 search results. i m confused in results. when i search , for some keywords it is returning exact 50 results . but for others it is returning some random results link 14 ,23, 37 etc . however the total results which i m getting is very high .
keywords like(logo design services , full color business card).

i don't know why it is happing . i have done lot of googleing . but i m not getting any clue.

i need some help...
