Why inconsistent results with live.com

Question

All,
I am not sure what MS is trying to do here, but turning off the gateway to ebay one minute, and turning it on another minute makes no sense.  When I use google, I get predictable behavior.   Not so with Live.

So, why does Live go to ebay one minute, and pretend ebay doesn't exist the next?
Why do you have to refresh a few times to get that gold coin?

I've seen this as well with a couple of my sites.

Both PokerMVP.com and Sportsbook - Casino and Online Gambling | MalvernSports.com - have been showing wildly different results day to day, whereas with Google they might move a little day to day but generally the results stay pretty predictable.
