Messanger forced me to update today but the update would not complete.  I uninstalled and tried to install fresh but no luck.  All windows updates are done, I cleared all temp files and cookies, rebooted several times. Turned off firewall and anti virus.  Tried to load in safe mode.  I continually get the following error and it's quite upsetting.

Messanger couldn't be installed because we had trouble installing this requirement.  Microsoft application error reporting
Please try installing windows live again. An unknown error occurred. hr,0x80070015

Nothing yet - I put in a trouble report to windows live team and they had me create some log files and send to them.  Then they forwarded on to a special team.  Must be a heck of a problem.

    Hi,
I'm having just the same error trying to install Windows Live . The IEER can not be installed, but this is quite upsetting because the IEER is NOT to be used with XPpro and IE7 or IE8 , where there is the WER for that.

In the meantime I'm loosing a lot of mail, because the suggested servers with LiveMail do not cope with the folder nesting in the Hotmail site ... an IMAP server is not available, and with POP3 it's known that the only folder is the incoming mail . Nothing more. This, If the info I have are'nt wrong: I'm not a windows guru, just end-user.

I am running WinXPpro SP3 H&Student, MS-IE8, on an homebrewed PC, CPU P4 at 3GHz, 3GB RAM, dual HP w2228 + w17E LCD Monitors, Asus A9250 graphic (here problems to Win7 ... for the A9250 secondary,  I am not able to find bios or drivers upgrade to win7 for that )
Outlook express is not able anymore to cope with Hotmail, but every expedient suggested by the MSN team to correct this is not working at all.
Neither the installation of Wondows Live Mail .... I'm not interested at all into the other suggested Live downloads.

Some hint? Some news from Microsoft team ? Thanks .

    Hi fiskerendk, thanks.

What should be the name in the Task manager Processes for that? I cannot find it as Windows errior reporting or similar, but it's surely running , because if something fails it asks me to send a fault report.

Another thing, I tried to uninstall the Windows Live Essential from the control panel, but it fails. I wanted to try to reinstall all from the beginning after uninstall all, as somebody else suggested.

In the meantime, I migrated to another mail program, a freeware GNU one, but apart from the task of the rebuilding of all the filters for all the hierarchy of folders I have in my mail, and get rid of the many many duplicates I found in  the messages in outlook archives, all by hand !! (time consuming and very boring process) there I found that some provider do not allow connection to download mail with such programs ..... this seems to be a very stupid thing, but this is it, and so I get only the 50% of my email ..... I have to have a copy of outlook running to get my mail from them.
    Odd.

Many thanks, I wait hopefully to see how I can see the WER running, or suggestions on how to let it run while I install LiveMail ....

    Go into Command-Prompt

and run "net start WerSvc" without "" and see if the service starts.

I am having the same problem on a Windows Vista 64bit system. No idea what is going on, I've tried everything. The other program I downloaded worked out fine (Writer). And this is a fresh install on a factory settings PC.

    OK fiskerendk,
I ran the dos command line as you wrote.

A DOS small windows come on with a message, but it disappears before I can read it, very quickly. I am not NemboKid .

So I do not know what this was writing. I suppose maybe this will be written somewhere, but as I wrote before, I'm not a SO guru at all, so I do not know where to find the event logged - if any logger - or how to freeze that small black dos screen.

I still have problems in disinstalling Window Live Essential from the control panel; if I click on disinstall, simply it does nothing at all.
In this way, I cannot try to reinstall the live mail, and it fails. Anyway, it still insist that as the internet explorer error reporter cannot be installed, so nothing else has been installed ....

    Thanks for helping me!
