Two questions about IM Control with delegated authentication.

I place a IM Control in a web page by using the c# sample code in MSDN. But I have two questions about it:

1. I use the GetUrl method of MessengerIMControl with no more param like following code:

MessengerIMControl.GetUrl(cid, Token.DelegationToken);

The IM Control can work properly but it asks the web page vistor to solve a CAPTCHA when the vistor starts a conversation. What should I do if I don't want it to show the CAPTCHA to my page vistor?

2. I use the GetUrl method of MessengerIMControl with some params like following code:

MessengerIMControl.GetUrl(cid, Token.DelegationToken, "en-US", Token.SessionKey, "aInviteeName", "aInveterId", "aInviterName");

The IM Control does not work properly. It shows the status of Invitee online but with a error message:
"Your conversation could not be started. You may want to try again. "

What's the problem? Can anybody help?

Our daily reports are being blocked by hotmail to our partners that use hotmail as there email accounts.

This started in the last few weeks. We email daily reports to our partners, some of which have chosen to use Hotmail as there email account. We are now unable to provide them directly with the data from our automated reporting system, although we may email directly from our accounts in mailaaa.com domain.

Please would you look into this and remove this account from possible 'Spam' sources.

Problems with Live ID web authentication in Windows 7 and IE8

I am the way and the Windows Live ID Delegated Authentication SDK using Window Live contact api Brings Windows Live Contacts.
XP or Vista to the normal operation confirmed. However Windows7 / IE8 is a sign pop up this error.
Error Message : undefinedheight="100%" width="100%">undefinedid="ctTBL">

press f5 to refresh the page if the normal login page is loaded.
Why is this happening do you?

Customization of sign in is not working

On https://msm.live.com/app/ManageCobranding.aspx I'm no longer able to upload customizations. This used to work, but now I get one message in green saying "Signin cobranding information was successfully uploaded" and one message in red saying "This field must contain a path ending with .xml and contain less than 2048 characters". The file name ends with XML and the nampe+path is less than 100 characters. The same file has successfully been uploaded a couple of months back.

Can Linked IDs be used on non-Microsoft sites?

I run a xbox themed website for mature minded gamers, small community, very friendly. Many had asked if they could sign in using their xbox live/live ID details.

Luckily my forum software now supports this so I thought I would have a bash setting it up on a test forum first, before unleashing it on the live forum

So I am trying to set up an API and get told my domain contains forbidden words.

I can only assume its the word xbox, but can't believe hwo precious microsoft would be over that, I mean how many other communities could there be out there similar to mine that also would like this functionality, am I to believe that MS would deny them that?

Anyway, can anyone advise any route of appeal I may take to get my domain accepted please?

What are the best practices for using Windows Live ID in a multitenant environment where each tenant has their own subdomain? e.g. company1.example.com, company2.example.com.

The problem is that cookies can only be set by and read from one particular domain. Authenticating with WLID on example.com doesn't help you when you want to be authenticated on company1.example.com. It gets tricky because the AppId is associated with only one return URL, not a configurable URL for each tenant. I haven't thought it all the way through yet, but I don't think it's possible for an AppId for example.com to be used to authenticate someone on company1.example.com.

One solution I'm considering is authenticating with WLID on example.com, and then redirecting to a page on company1.example.com which then sets a different authentication cookie using ASP.NET (MVC) Forms Authentication. The page on company1.example.com would of course be able to set and read cookies on company1.example.com.

I can probably make this work, but thought I'd ask for guidance in case anyone has learned best practices from experience.

Loading an exe from DVD

Hi,
i have an exe in a DVD and i placed the DVD named "A" in the Drive and invoked the exe from the DVD
and in the invoked exe which contains a Dialog with a button in it..and now i pressed the button it will throw a message box(im throwing message box from code) which tells to insert another DVD called "B" into the same drive....and now i removed the DVD and inserted the second DVD ("B")now ill press ok in the message box then what should happen is it should invoke the setupo.exe which is present in the second DVD "B".....but im getting a windows message like Wrong Volume is in the Drive.Please insert the DVD "A" into drive F: when i click on ok of the messagebox which was thrown from the exe which is loaded into memory from DVD "A" ..and it is not allowing to go further and the thing is this error comes only in windows XP machine only and everything works fine in windows 2003,2008 server....and one morething this message comes in windows 2003,2008 also but it comes only when i invoke taskmanager...and it doesn"t create any problem in that machines...

Please help me regarding the same...

Request for Enhancement: I'm of the persuasion that passwords should always be transmitted over secure channels. With this in mind, it would be great if LiveID always used Enhanced Security. Both Yahoo and Google always use SSL for signons these days. Is there any reason not to move to Enhanced Security 100% of the time?

I searched the forums before posting this, but came up empty handed. My apologies if it has already been discussed in the past.

LiveID and third party cookies?

Many users have third party cookies disabled, and when these users try to sign out of LiveID using Firefox, they'll be shown this:

Sign out failed!

We could not sign you out because your browser seems to be blocking third party cookies.

Close all browser windows to sign out.
To prevent this error in the future, you must enable third party cookies by chaging [sic] your browser settings.

Can anyone explain how LiveID uses third party cookies? I don't see this problem in IE8, even with 3rd party cookies disabled. Actually, I have IE8 set to prompt me about third party cookies, and when signing in/out of LiveID I don't even see one being set.

in this site delegate authentication have to be used, but when I create the live service componet, there is an error:
Invalid application domain name

I don't know what to do, Microsoft internal contact is huayao@microsoft.com

Problems with Live ID web authentication in Windows 7 and IE8

We're testing out an application that uses Live ID authentication, and it works great in all browsers and platforms, with one exception...the "Windows7/IE8" combination.

Strangely when someone clicks on the button to login, the popup window that contains the sign-in details for Live ID contains the following HTML code only:

undefinedheight="100%" width="100%">undefinedid="ctTBL">

The source of the page seems to contain relevant code...but that's all we see.

Now...strangely..if we hit F5 in that page and refresh it...it works fine!...

We're stumped and assume this is a problem on the LiveID side...anyone else seeing this issue or have a resolution for it??

Is there a way to get user's email via Windows Live ID Delegated Authentication (Resource Providers)?
(other personal info, like real name, would be nice to have too, for all of this i expect users approval, but is there an API for it?)
Or any other method?

Even though i find users's contacts (Windows Live Contacts API) and photos (Live Photo WebDAV API) very usefull, i would rather get his e-mail, so my service can contact him/her directly.

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to use the Delegated Authentication. I've grabbed the sample code files, copied the WindowsLiveLogin class over to my website, modified my appsettings from the sample files and run.

the <a href=""> has some massive url that goes off to http://consent.live.com/Delegation.aspx/<lots of stuff here>

Ok . here's where things go a bit wrong.

1) In firefox, when i click on that url, i get a warning about the certificate? ie7 doesn't give me that warning.

2) the log in screen shows up. kewl. i enter my email and password .. it accepts then goes to this....

I want to create a page containning a Live Messager IM Control. After delegated authentication, I got a valid token object(I used the code in c# sample). But I need the CID in order to use IM Control. How to get it? Using ProcessToken method of WindowsLiveLogin class? I tried, but the returned user object is null. What should I do to get the cid?

Are there any concerns with setting the LiveID webauthtoken cookie at a domain level? For example:

It appears to be a good solution to a problem I raised in another thread, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking a security problem with this approach.

I think Windows 7 comes with McAfee anti-virus software. Norton 360 was installed also. Can I leave both of them on, or must I get rid of one of them? Does having two cause problems with programs I'm trying to use?

The SDK 1.2 download appears to conain version 1.1 of WindowsLiveLogin.cs. Is there a mistake somewhere?

Windows Live Messenger 2009 logs out instantly.

I created a new Windows Live ID couple days ago and my messenger worked like a charm, but few days ago, whenever i try to log on, it logs me out almost instantly, but it still works at Offline-mode and this is very annoying.

I´m currently running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, my Windows Live ID doesnt work on any other computer either (hotmail works, messenger doesnt)

I need to use Live Id authentication for my wesite. My requirement is such that I need to validate only for Microsoft partner registered users, and not all Live Id users.

How do I acheive this. How do I register my site on Azure for Live Id authentication such that my site validates for Microsoft partner registered users.
