Windows Live Messenger Crashes

Question

Hi,

I have Windows Live Messenger running on my computer with XP SP2.  Live messenger is version 2009 Build 10.0.8117.416.  It allows me to sign in but when I click on a contact and the chat window opens, an error message comes up saying that Windows Live Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close.  The Error signature is:

fDebug: 0       Offset: 000088cd

Would anyone be able to help me solve this problem?
