Access Windows Live Contacts via Windows Live ID Client

The documentation for windows live contacts only describes access the REST services using the Windows Live ID Delegated Authentication SDK. Is it possible to use the Windows Live ID Client SDK instead? This would make writing Smart Client Apps far easier.

How do I disable Windows Live Mail from Live Messenger?

In the past when I had live messenger open and clicked the icon showing the number of new messages in my box, my email opened WITHIN IE web mail. Now it opens the 'Windows Live Mail' program.

I installed the live mail program just to use if sending a message via a link opened my Outlook Express, otherwise I would use hotmail within IE as webmail. As OE is no longer going to support the Hotmail client, I installed Live Mail. However when opening mail via live messenger I would prefer it to open within internet explorer, but I am at a loss on how to do this, Within Tools/Options I have OE set as default mail program, (Someone else whos less adjustable to changes uses OE and has the sole ISP default email) I have tried tweaking to different things including Live Hotmail, hoping that would open my hotmail window, but I can not stop Live Mail from opening instead.
I prefer to just use webmail for my email experience, and hope theres an answer here.

For at least 2 weeks, I haven't been able to get into My MSN. I keep getting this:
Your request could not be processed at this time, please refresh this page or try again later.
Also, the page looks strange, the Bing Search engine appears, but it only shows the tops of the words in it.

Nothing happens when I refresh the page, and it won't even let me login; if I do manage to get to a login page, nothing happens after I sign in. I use Windows Live Email which seems to come onto my computer ok, but I can't get onto the My MSN page at all to do anything. I have Windows XP, use Mozilla Firefox 3.5.4

Can somebody help me??

problems replying to a message in Windows Live

Since I installed a new version of Windows Live for my e-mail server, I cannot reply to messages. I get the pane, but I cannot place the cursor on the page. The entire page is right at the left of the screen so you can't even see the beginning.

I went into System restore, but Windows Live did not set a restore point on the computer. To take it back before I installed, I would loose too much. How can I remedy that problem?

Why did they have to "fix" a good thing with something that is worse? Guess that's Microsoft!

I couldn't say that my MSN account has been hacked, because I still can sign in & out and sending & receiving emails. The issue is my friends on MSN are continually getting some funny stuff that been sent out from me which obviously I didn't. I wasn't even online.

Is anybody know what's going on with my MSN? Any solution to solve this problem?

How to access Windows Live ID Contacts using Windows Live ID Client SDK ?

Long Description:
I know that we can access the Windows Live ID Contacts, using Windows Live ID Delegated Authentication SDK.
This Windows Live ID Delegated Authentication SDK allows to read /write contacts/photos of other people, i.e. a Team can have a Common Contact List ( or Fotos, etc).
To get contacts/photos a Web Site must be created and the Users must confirm/provide the access for this Web Site.

This Solution is not real suitable, if I need to connect to my own Windows Live ID Contacts from a Desktop Application

Using the Windows Live ID Client SDK we can access for example the our own Blog.
So in this case no extra Web Site is necessary, because we connect to our own Data.

PS: The Outlook Connector can access the Windows Live ID Contacts without extra Web Site

I wanted to use the Live Tool kit but do not like the fact that I am limited on the IFrame Link customization. To resolve this with out have to use the the SDK solution I simply replced the Iframe src with javascript at the end of the page.

This example replaces the standard link with 'WebAuthButton.htm' but you could use this method to replace it with any of the custom option at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676638.aspx

Using HTML Help inside a TabControl TabPage

I would like to be able to have HTML Help from a .chm file display inside a TabControl tab page ( Think of it is a User Interface similar to the Way Microsoft Access 2000 and 2003 opens up a new tab to display it's HTML Help when you click on Help ).

I would like to use the standard component Help.ShowHelp.
However, Help.ShowHelp in its regular operation opens outside my application and does not automatically return to the application when closed.
I have seen sample code regarding using ShowHelp inside of a newly opened form, but this does not seem to work inside a tab.

Any help would be truly appreciated.

If a user is already logged into Windows Live Messenger and they browse to my application which as an IDLoginStatus control, is my web site going to be able to use the IDLoginStatus1.LoggedInLiveID value to automatically log them in?

If not, is it possible to eliminate the round-trip to Windows http://login.live.com/wlogin.srf?appid=xxxxxxxxxxxxx&alg=wsignin1.0&appctx= if the user is already logged into Windows Live?

I am getting the "The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request" error while using the same example code as described on https://dev.live.com/livedata/sdk/default.aspx . I don't know what I am doing wrong here. Do I need to make some changes in this code to import contacts or I have to follow some other way.

no toolbar or icons

I got a virus and my norton 360 scanned it and got rid of it. It then said I had to restart my computer and I did. When it came back on a window opened up and said data execution prevention etc etc. and there are no icons or toolbars at the bottom or no start. How do I get the icons and toolbars back and how do I know if the virus is gone?

IDLoginView and the AutomaticallyAssociateAuthentication property

Hello:

I tried associating my live id application acct to my local app acct using:

when starting the app, I logged in locally, then logged in to live id and chose the Yes button to associate the accts. I then got the error below.

Add VE Server Map Control dynamically via Code Behind - Causes Error?

I'm wondering if it's possible to add the Virtual Earth Server Control via code behind instead of adding it to the aspx page?

I tried something like this to add the map to a Panel control:

I ask "Where is ..." because nearly everything I tried to find is not where the links indicate.
In particular the connect site does not have information on the Nov CTP. It has the July information.
The dev.live.com does not have links to SDK as indicated etc.

I realize that there was a major change in dev.live.com and the CTP recently, but links are not just not correct.

I really am trying to use MessengerChat control, but I can not find any doc on it anywhere. I only stumbled on where the DLLs to add as references. I have not been able to find any doc on actually using the Live Tools for Visual Studio Nov CTP and the supplied namespaces and controls.

What is worse, I have been watching videos from MIX08 and what they presented appears to bear little or not relation to the current code. There demos of the .js scripts used a different domain name and version 1.0 and I have seen stuff referencing version 2.5. What is really current and where is its documentation?

Please point in the correct direction for current information.

Very lost at this point.

IDLoginView stopped working

Hi,
I just cannot comprehend what I've done or what could be the reason why the IDLoginView control has stopped working. IDLoginStatus works fine and I get redirected back to my page, but IDLoginView only shows me the AnonymousTemplate content.

Another thing is that I can no longer reference controls inside IDLoginView, e.g.,

((Literal)IDLoginView.FindControl("PersonalToken")).Text 

only gives me "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.

Things were working just fine, but then I started having some serious issues with Visual Studio 2008, and ended up having to reinstall it a few times. Now these controls do not work anymore. I did repair the installation of Live Tools and I also tried recreating a new ASPX page where I drag&dropped the controls (in design view).

Would anyone have any ideas how to start solving this?

Photo control not showing photos from new Live Spaces

The new Live Spaces look nice. But now the problem is that using the Photo control I can get only the photos that are from before the change. All the new photo sets and photos aren't showing in the photo control and thus can't be used.

Is this a temp bug or should I change something in the code to get it back working?

Windows Live Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio November 2008 CTP on intranet apps

I've been browsing around trying to figure out whether using these tools is worth my time. One place says no intranet apps allowed (http://www.microsoft.com/virtualearth/product/terms.html) while another says only internal use (http://www.microsoft.com/virtualearth/assets/docs/mappoint-terms.aspx). I downloaded the Live Tools for VS2008 and I'm mostly interested in the map controls in that package. Can I use the map controls on an intranet site? And since there are other controls as well (Contacts, IDLoginStatus, IDLoginView, MessengerChat, SilverlightStreamingMediaPlayer), can I use them on an intranet site??

I'm trying to figure out how the Contacts Control in IE is able to open an active conversation with a prefilled text. I have tried to look trough the JavaScript for a reference to "MSNMessenger.P4QuickLaunch" object. Witch I suspect was used. But I cannot find any reference to it. That is actually great... Because that would not work with Firefox, or other browser that does not support activeX.

And this does not either work in Firefox.
