Where do I get user help for Live Alerts? (E-mail validation problem)

Question

I know this is not a user support forum, but I couldn't find an place that is. I want to get alerts to my e-mail, but I'm being asked to validate, and when I try that, I get:

Your e-mail address cannot be verified at this time. Please try again later. If you continue having problems, please check your e-mail inbox for a message from Windows Live ID

There's no mail in my inbox from Windows Live ID (unless it's going by the name Maryellen these days and advertising Canadian pharmacies). I went over the list of forums, and couldn't find any place to ask, nor any other way to get help, or any information about this message. Help will be appreciated.
