Announcing the release of Software Certification Toolkit 3.0!

The Windows Server Software Logo team has released Software Certification Toolkit Version 3.0 (SCT 3.0) to the web!

SCT 3.0 is now live here: www.Microsoft.com/WindowsServer/ISV on the Logo program landing pages.

As part of continuous engagement around app compatibility and certification, the toolkit is now updated and available to ISVs. This update  includes additional program coverage, performance and feature improvements.

 

SCT 3.0 now supports the following platforms: (all in both x86 and x64 variants, physical and Virtual environments)

·         Windows Server 2008 | Windows Server 2008 R2 | Windows Vista |Windows 7

…and the following programs:

·         Works with Windows Server 2008 Logo program | Works with Windows Server 2008 R2 Logo program | Platform test for Windows Server 2008 |Platform test for Windows Server 2008 R2

Additionally SCT 3.0 enables optional tests for checking:

·         Remote Desktop Services Compatibility

·         Select tests in the ‘Certified for Windows Server 2008 R2 Logo program.

 

Major updates to the tool includes:

1.       SCT now allows testing for:

·         Remote Desktop Services Compatibility testing (optional)

·         Select tests in the Certified for Windows Server 2008 R2 Logo program (optional)

2.       Performance

·         Works with tool for basic compatibility now runs faster than the previous release, while covering more tests.

o   Example: For a small app the test now can be completed in about 30 minutes Vs 2 hours in the previous release | large apps can be tested in under 2 hours Vs 4-6 hours previously

3.       ISV waiver requests

·         Waiver requests are now handled from within the toolkit as opposed to having the ISVs complete and send word documents to the Windows Server Logo team

4.       More test coverage and deterministic, actionable results

·         Tests remain black box in nature – No learning curve for ISVs to use this tool since it is a simple, Wizard style tool that guides them thru testing

·         Bug fixes
