can´t connect on windows mobile 6
- I´m trying to use my phone as a remote controll to windows media center on vista, with this guide as an help: http://merelyexisting.wordpress.com/2008/07/25/windows-mobile-media-center-remote-control/
Everything just work fine except when I´m trying to push the connect button on my phone. I keep getting this error message, saying "make sure your phone is paired with the computer over bluetooth" or something like that. What am I doing wrong? I do exactly as the guide says, but still nothing happens, I have tried to reinstall the program a couple of times too.

What phone do you have and what PC?
Some phones use a non-Microsoft bluetooth stack which requires the PC to be discoverable as well as the phone, which can cause this issue. Some bluetooth drivers on the PC - specifically those of Toshiba or Broadcom - are not supported and can cause this issue as well. You can check what Bluetooth software is on your tv by opening device manager and looking at the entries under 'Bluetooth radios'. Bluetooth drivers can generally be replaced by Microsoft ones by uninstalling them and then turning the Bluetooth radio on and off again so that it automatically downloads the drivers from Windows update.
Thanks,
Toby- The phone is Lg Ks20 and I have vista on my computer.
I have a toshiba bluetooth stack, but I have read about this problem before so I uninstalled the toshiba driver and use the microsoft driver now.
And both my phone and computer´s bluetooth settings are on visible. Ok. What model of PC do you have, and what version of Vista? Also, does the phone appear in the SideShow control panel, or in device manager under the Windows SideShow node?
Thanks,
Toby- I have Acer E380 with windows vista prenium. It doesn´t appear in the Side Show control panel, and I can´t find that "sideshow node"?
Does your device show up under Other Devices in the Device manager? If it does, right click on it and select Update Driver and allow it to search on Windows Update for the driver. If that is successful, it should appear under a new node, Windows SideShow. Another thing you can check, open the Bluetooth control panel, right click on your paired device (phone) and click on the Services tab. Make sure WIndow SideShow service is checked.
- This is how it´s look.
Thanks. Could you take a picture of Device Manager? If you see a Bluetooth Radios node, Other Devices node, or Windows SideShow node, please expand those.
Thanks,
Toby
- This is the Device Manager.
I apologize for the confusion - this is what I'm looking for:
It should be at Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager.
Thanks very much,
Toby- I have the same problem. My computer is a HP EliteBook 6930p using a HP Bluetooth stack and Windows Vista SP1. My phone is a HP iPaq 610 running Windows Mobile 6.5. On my Device Mananger i don't see the SideShow node. I see on the bluetooth device on my computer that the sideshow service is enable, but in my phone my computer only shows ActiveSync as the only service available.
Can you help me? - I'm having trouble as well. I can connect and sync my phone samsung i907 over Bluetooth using 7RC's mobile device manager. My phone shows up under sideshow devices in the device manager. I the same message as the OP when trying to connect with sideshow. I'm a little lost as what to do next.
- I'm having the same problem. I am running a Windows 7 (RTM) machine with the default Win7 bluetooth drivers, and am trying to connect an HTC Touch Diamond (Sprint, WM6.5 sys: 21864). The machine originally shipped with Windows Vista w/Toshiba bluetooth stack.I can setup the bluetooth pairing with no problems and Windows Mobile Device Center recognizes it. On the Windows 7 machine, if I click the bluetooth icon in the systray and click show bluetooth devices, then view the properties for the Diamond, it lists 3 services in the services tab: Activesync, DUN, and Windows SideShow. Windows Sideshow also appears in the device manager with the Diamond listed underneath, but there is no Windows SideShow in the control panel. On the phone side, the only service that is listed is Activesync. When I run SideShow on my phone, it gives the connection error when hitting connect.I've tried pairing every which way possible, and tried restarting both, as well as re-installing SideShow on the phone and all end with the same result.
Any ideas?
