Windows SDK Configuration Tool (WindowsSdkVer.exe) faults!!!
-
Sunday, March 16, 2008 8:42 AMI just installed Windows SDK version 6.1 via Web setup. Everytime I run WindowsSdkVer.exe it faults.
I use Depends.exe to see what happens and find that it tries to load FlsAlloc. Just after GetProcAddress of FlsAlloc, it terminates unexpectedly.
I see that FlsAlloc is only available on Vista and Windows Server 2003 above. So why I am getting this tool on Windows XP???
Why..............................I found much much much much more bugs than ever in Microsoft products.

I've just discovered this post. Sorry I missed it. Did you get an answer to your problem? This post will likely answer your question. It sounds like you might be trying to launch the tool on it's own... There's a helpful article on the Windows SDK blog: Integrating Windows SDK and VS with new SDK Configuration tool

A serious bug has been discovered with the Windows SDK Configuration Tool. This bug is not apparent as the tool appears to work correctly. Please read the blog post WinSDK bug notification: SDK Config Tool appears to work but fails, to learn more about the issue and find workaround steps.
