GFWL not working on Windows 8....

Question

Apparently Games For Windows Live doesn't work on Windows 8. Any attempt to load a GFWL based game will either result in a live not loading error, or the game will load without live.

Is there any updates coming from MS or the GFWL team? Thank you.

I would like to bump this, I have a handful of games on Steam that use GFWL.

Me too, having problems with gfwl on windows 8. Need fix immediately. Can't live without my games between development cycles...

ME TOOOOO, please Microsoft ! we need to have the updated version of GFWL which supports windows 8 Developer Preview ... 

 

all the good games are supported by GFWL....

 

please get us a release ASAP.

Yes, or better yet - kill GFWL completely! It is pretty useless, especially with steam games.

It is working but it's difficult to install. I-m from Ukraine so i write in Russian, you should transate to understand, It helped me:

1. Удиалить все старые инсталы GFWL с очисткой реестра. 
2. В Гугле набрать gfwl web update, из кучи ссылок выбрать такую по которой можно будет скачать файл gfwlivesetupmin - 28Мб, одна из ссылок http://www.shacknews.com/file....staller
3. Установить, запустится клиент и паралельно окно со ссылкой на обновление этого самого Лайва, скачать его, файл обзывается gfwlivesetup - 624 Кб, обновить и установить.
4. В папке C:\Program Files (x86) появится папка Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE от туда из папки Client запустить файл GFWLive, никакого Маркитплейса для ввода логина и пароля.
5. Запускать например Батмана последнего, кнопка Home теперь работает, создаем локальный аккаунт и играем


И еще надо включить службу обновления Windows 8 и обновитсья на всякий случай до этого, я так делал.
У кого Видеокарта Радеон желательно скачать дрова для 8-ки, в играх будет прибавка в ФПС по сравнению с 7-кой, на драйверах от 7-ки ФПС будет еще меньше

It can be made to work. Search for GFWL on this forum and you'll find a guide posted in English. It worked for me - I managed to get Batman AC to work just fine.

WORKED FOR ME IN GTA IV! THANKS!!!

Translation:

1. Delete all previous installations of GFWL and clean the registry.
2. Download gfwlivesetupmin.exe (28 Mb), for example, from here: http://www.shacknews.com/file/18176/games-for-windows-live-client-v33
3. Install the client and run it. Download the update (624 Kb) called gfwlivesetup.exe by pressing requested link and install it.
4. Launch GFWLive.exe from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE\Client.
5. Launch, for example, Batman: Arkham City, Home button works now, create an account and play.

Also enable Microsoft Update in Windows 8 and update the OS.

If you have Radeon graphics card, download drivers for Windows 8, you'll get FPS boost compared to Windows 7.
