Windows cannot read the <Product Key> setting from the unattend answer file.

Question

I have this problem when I try to install windows developer preview in VMware Workstation 8.

 

Did I need an windows developer preview product key, or just install it without it ?.

I get this too, it just keeps looping. I've tried putting the key posted elsewhere in VMWare but it just keeps looping

Hello so i find the solution.

 

step by step:

 

start VMware Workstation 8 

create new virtual Machine

CUstom -> next

Hardware compatibility: Workstation 8 -> next

Install the operating system later.  -> next

Guest OS: Microsoft Windows ; Version Windows 7, -> next

next , next, next,next, next, next,next,next,next,next (default values)

FINISH

 

DONT START THE MACHINE.

You will se your created machine, you have to open Edit Virtual machine settings -> CD/DVD -> Use ISO Image file -> choose your Win dev Prev ISO FILE. -> OK button 

 

Now you can START the machine and install Win Dev Prev. :-)

On VMWare Virtual Machine, just remove FLOPPY.

Removing the Floppy worked for me.  Thanks Lucas.

Remove the Floppy worked for me too.

The Win 8 install looks like it is looking for the unattended installation file on the floppy drive. remove it and all seems to install ok.

Worked for me. Seems like is whether the the install OS later or the remove floppy.

Also for the VM setup step asking for the product key you should be able to enter any key.
