I followed the instructions to the letter from the article (How to Dual-Boot Windows 7 and Windows 8 Side By Side)
PROBLEM:
Everything installed fine and Windows 8 boots up great and seems to run fine but when I try to boot into Windows 7 the screen goes black for a second and then the computer restarts (it doesn't even try to boot like maybe there’s a file missing from the win7 partition? its just a black screen for about 10 seconds then restart
Before I installed win8 Win7 was working perfect and i even rebooted into win 7 after shrinking the volume just to make sure it was ok before installing 8 and it worked fine
But now I can’t boot into win 7 ...
All the files seem to be there and i can access them from within 8 but I can not boot win 7
DIAGNOSTIC:
·I tried changing the default OS and no difference. still no win 7 boot
·I have also run a complete chkdsk on both volumes and no errors
·Boot from 7 DVD "startup repair" finds no problems & says last boot was successful
·I checked the versions of winload.exe on both installs and they seem to be correct
·The disk management console in Windows 8 shows the correct info for both volumes:
Volume Win7_64(D:)-Simple-Basic-NTFS--Healthy(System,Active,Primary Partition)
Volume Win8_64(c:)-Simple-Basic-NTFS--Healthy(Boot,Page File,Crash Dump,Primary Partition)· When running the "bcdedit" tool this is what it says: (Looks fine to me)
C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit

STATUS:
Windows 7 wont even try to boot just a blank screen for about 10 seconds then it restarts

ANY help would be appreciated (its got to be something simple)
------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: SOLUTION
I replaced the following two files with backup copies that I had saved just to see what would happen
Filename: :Windows\System32\winload.exe
Filename: :Windows\System32\winresume.exe
RESULT: = (PROBLEM SOLVED)
\Windows 7 and Windows 8 both now boot up perfectly like they are supposed to ...

I knew it was something simple :)
