Yes you heard me right, the account verification is way too tedious:

    1. First I have to call a local number of go through a series of menu options that are unrelated to WA account verification.

    2. I was then routed to MS' contact center in India.

    3. I had to literally spell out each and every letter of my name, and also my email address. I don't blame the Indian person on the other end for not understanding me because I don't speak in an accent that he understands, perhaps. Again many folks use funky names in their Windows Live ID, so there you go, you go spelling each letter like F for France, A for America, blah blah blah.

I find this account verification really unnecessary. For instance, I was only asked for my address and phone number. So what?

Coincidentally I also signed up for Amazon AWS and the verification took just 2 seconds. I got a call from them instead, and it's fully automated, I entered a 3 digit PIN, and VOILA, my account was verified.

I remember Windows Azure used to have SMS verification, bring them back, or just emulate Amazon's simple verification process!

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. I’ll forward it to the business team.

Since this is not a question, I’ll change the thread type to general discussion.

    Best Regards,
