Answered At the end of Core plus SQL Azure

What happens when my "Core plus SQL Azure" special ends?  The billing portal presents the option for automatic renewal.  If the "Core plus SQL Azure" will still be offered, how might it change in light of the recent Azure price reductions announced by Microsoft?

If it will no longer be available or I choose not to renew, and I must convert to pay-go for example, how will this affect my current Azure configuration/operation in the management portal?  Will I have to recreate/re-establish my operation in another subscription?

    Hi Mike,

If you subscription ends it will be automatically renewed by 6 months.  The subscription will be renewed for 6 months. If you choose not to renew automatically, you will be converted to a pay-go.  This won't affect your current subscription as far as I noticed.

If you need the resources anyway, I can highly advice you to renew as you will receive 20% reductions on compute and up to 39% for storage.

    Hope it helps.

    Kind regards

On the six month plan . . . can a SQL Azure base unit be allocated across more than one business edition db?  The reason I ask is it seems the price breaks for each base unit occur at db sizes (e.g. 28gb & 124gb) that don't match up with the permissable db sizing increments (10gb & 50gb).

I missed your question.  I would contact support as Name-Dis mentioned.

Let us know how it worked out.

EDIT: to answer your question: On the six month plan, can a SQL Azure base unit be allocated across more than one business edition db?  The answer is no.  If you subscribe for a 20 GB db and you are using 2x10GB, you will be billed for 2x 10GB instead of 1x20GB.

This forum is support . . . I chose this option as opposed to the above link (which doesn't work) because others may be interested in this issue.

    Hello Mike McIver,

based on what is the SQL plan that you have, you would be able to see the benefits by being with the same subscription:

    https://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/offers/ms-azr-0020p SQL core

    https://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/offers/ms-azr-0013p SQL DA core

So currently with the same price what you have been paying, you can use more Databases. In a case if you have only 1 Business Edition database, this offer is not suitable for you and you may want to contact support to understand what is the best suitable offer for your usage and they would be helpful.
