    Hello,

Please excuse me if this is a dumb question. I am really new to Windows Azure.

I found there is a "DATA TRANSFER IN" item (which is not zero) under "PAY-AS-YOU-GO" category of my subscription billing report page.

However, I read in this help article (https://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/pricing/details/#data-transfer) that all inbound data transfers are at no charge.

So, what does this mean? Are inbound data transfers free or not?

    Thanks!

    -Tony

Data sent to (aka uploaded) to the Windows Azure datacenter is free. Anyone sent back out (downloaded) is billable.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I assume "DATA TRANSFER IN" is what you said "data sent to the Windows Azure datacenter", right? So it should be free.

But why does it appear under the "PAY-AS-YOU-GO" category? And it indeed is showing some number there (in my case it is 0.08GB).

Is it there just for record purpose or is it billable?

    Hi Tony,

In the past data transfer in was billed, maybe that's why that's still there.
