Web Role stuck in initializing

Question

My role, deployment Id 384acd7878da40b289b6f4dac6131e2b, has been stuck initializing for about 1 hr.

I've been playing around with programmatic changes to instance count, and this happened during one of those attempts. The site works while a role is initializing, so I wonder if this is just an odd way for the Azure team to throttle configuration changes, or is this something much more serious. It's essential for me to develop confidence in Azure's ability to scale up and down seamlessly. Not only is the scaling slow today, taking about 5 minutes to go from 1 to 2 and a little less from 2 to 1, it's very unreliable judging by the many similar posts on this forum. Is this problem going to be fixed soon?

Hi, this Private Deployment ID does not exist. Have you deleted the deployment? Does it work fine now? If not, please provide the new ID.

Thanks for looking into it. Yes, I had to delete and redeploy. I'll simulate the problem again today and let you know when I reproduce.
