Hi, is it possible to use Bing Maps in metro style app? The idea is to build a travel related application with content overlaying Bing provided map. As user zooms into different areas they will see information provided by the app, but the map itself will be served from Bing.com.
thanks!

There is not currently a Bing Maps API explicitely for Metro style apps, but I don't know what the Bing Maps team has planned for the future. You can provide feedback to the Bing Maps team on their connect site at http://connect.microsoft.com/bingmapapps . As discussed in a previous thread, the Windows team has been discussing this with the Bing team.
That said you can use the web based Bing Maps API in Metro style apps in HTML and JavaScript. See the Mashup sample for an example.

There is now a Bing Maps control for Windows Metro style apps. See Bing Maps SDK for Metro style apps (Beta): http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/0c341dfb-4584-4738-949c-daf55b82df58- Proposed As Answer by Lcubed Tuesday, April 17, 2012 12:09 AM
