I have read everyone of the posts that popped in google and nothing is helping me out. I am simply trying to add a printer to this computer. Keeps coming back with the error that I need to log on as admin. I am. I use the compatability tab it is greyed out. I am not someone who wants to play with regedit. That would be computer homicide. I am using the factory disc. It is for a HP 6200 series printer.hp6210. Uac is off.

Programmatically change word 2007 docx document - inserting footnotes corrupt docx

Hello,

I'm using C# and the System.IO.Packaging library and I've an issue when I try to programmatically insert a footnote with a hyperlink inside a document, everything goes well but when I try to open the modified document I get a catastrophic failure.
Actually the footnotes.xml.rels is corrupted and cannot be extracted.

Where can I post this issue ?

VS2010 on Windows 7: Taskbar Snapshot Not Updating

I've been looking through the Win7 support provided by .NET 4.0, but I haven't discovered how to resolve this one. My application is logging information to the main window. However when I hover over the Taskbar Icon for the running program, changes aren't updated. I thought Win7 was supposed to handle live updates on the Taskbar icon previews as well as Aero Peek, etc.

Am I missing something or do I have to manually tell the Taskbar whenever my main window has updated itself?

We have installed new computers . The culture has been set to he-IL , as it should in regional settings and in asp.net iis tab in global edit configuration.
When I've created a new console in c#
and in main put in the line

DateTime date = DateTime.Now ;
My output was -  "22/11/2009 12:54:42" as it should by the format "dd/mm/yyyy ..."

but when I've created the same project in vb.net
and put in main the line -

Dim date As DateTime = DateTime.Now
the output I've got was - #11/22/2009 1:04:19 PM# - that it's the wrong format and wrong culture at that metter.

also I've checked the culture -

Dim culture As String = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.ToString()
and got -  CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.Name "he-IL" String
also it is important to say that the line
  DateTime.Now.ToString() works fine and gets the right format - "22/11/2009 12:54:42" String .

The question is why in C# the format was right , while in Vb.net the format of the date was wrong ?
It has all the same installations and definitions .
Anybody has any ideas?

Hi,

I want to make an application which can create video using its own intelligence.

Explaination:
User will provide number of images,text,audio sound, In short all the multimedia options as well as user will select the size of resulted video along with the type of the resulted video extention(.mov, .avi etc).
Now the aplication will be selecting all the inputed resources and will create video ,which will be of specified size and having extention as per the users requirement.

I'm confused that where do i start from and where can i find API which will help me going ahead.

I need the API in asp.net-c#.

Please help me out ASAP.

First, the old newsgroups only have IE 4 through 6. It appears that new IE versions are not addressed. May we start a new section here?

Second, in IE7, I had around 20 or so visible 'past visited sites' below the address bar that I could just click on (without favoriting them). IE8 only gives 12. Do you fine folks know how to increase/decrease that total?

Case study: I am seeking help as I am attempting to test the .1Q functionality of Microsoft Virtual PC (only). What I have done is connected a PC w 1gig NIC configured for .1Q tagging and connected it to a Cat 3750 trunk port. I configured 3 VLAN (one per virtual environment) and I created a loopback interface to ping too.

Problem: PING not successful. I am able to see the VLAN tagged on the 3750 and when I show ARP on the 3750 I do see the MAC of the Virtual PC with the correct VLANID but the switch will not route the packet to the LO int. Hence, PING failure. I tried with both no routing and with EIGRP both, to no avail.

Any suggestions ?

Avoid DNS lookup when chasing LDAP referrals

Hi all,

I'm using Windows LDAP API (windows 2003 server machine) to perform LDAP queries on LDAP directories (AD, Sun One, etc).
My Server does not have access to a DNS server, and so far I've managed for everything to work using local resolution (in etc\hosts file).

However, I'm now trying to enable LDAP referrals support, and am facing some issues, as I simply cannot seem to prevent the API from performing DNS lookups whenever a referral is returned from the server.

My currently working (though non referral-chasing code looks like this:

First, I changed my base context to something in a subdomain, e.g. changed line 12:

string stSearchBaseContext="DC=childdc,DC=mydc,DC=com";

Then, as expected, my ldap_search_st returned LDAP_REFERRAL (0x0a).

So, next I turned on referrals chasing by altering line 7:

ldap_set_option(ld, LDAP_OPT_REFERRALS, LDAP_OPT_ON);

Now, my ldap_search_st simply hangs until the timeout expires, and then returns 0x01 error code, which is LDAP_OPERATIONS_ERROR, which means something went terribly wrong.

So I used wireshark sniffer to see what was going on, and found out my client machine tries to access the DNS:

Standard query SRV _ldap._tcp.Default-First-Site-Name._sites.childdc.infradc.com

From there on out, whatever I tried, I couldn't get it to not access the DNS in order to query the SRV record.
I tried adding the following two lines, to no avail:

ldap_set_option(ld, LDAP_OPT_AREC_EXCLUSIVE, LDAP_OPT_ON);
ldap_set_option(ld, LDAP_OPT_GETDSNAME_FLAGS, DS_IS_DNS_NAME);

I also tried tinkering my etc\hosts file, which also had absolutely no effect.

It's important to note that I've added the hostname in my etc\hosts file, and ping childdc.infradc.com works perfectly (while nslookup fails, obviously).

Am I missing something? Is it possible to prevent the Windows LDAP API from looking up DNS during referrals chase?

Any help / documentation references would be greatly appreciated.
