Mark Wilson-ThomasMSFTWednesday, October 28, 2009 6:44 PMThe Visual Studio WPF and Silverlight Designer Team is delighted to inform you that our Visual Studio 2010 Release Candidate is now available for download here
What's New for WPF and Silverlight Developers in the Visual Studio 2010 Release Candidate?
Our focus has been improving the performance, stability and memory usage of the designer. We hope you'll see the difference, and we really want to hear about any outstanding stability and performance problems you may encounter.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are a Silvelight 4 developer, please do NOT upgrade to the RC - at present the RC does not support Silverlight 4 development (see http://blogs.msdn.com/wpfsldesigner/archive/2010/02/09/silverlight-support-for-visual-studio-2010-release-candidate.aspx)
Of course we still have all the great features you got in the Beta 2 release too:
1. The Silverlight Designer supports Silverlight 3 RTM release, and is a fully functional drag-drop designer
2. The Data Sources Window works for Silverlight 3
3. The Property Browser has been reworked to be more usable – showing a better Category view and a "Set Properties" view
4. The designer now lets you load controls that have references to static resources at app scope
5. The designer shows helpful errors when things such as controls fail to load, without the need to attach a debugger to Visual Studio.
6. The designer is faster and more stable than it was at Beta 2, C

Program Manager, WPF & Silverlight Designer Team, Visual StudioSilverlight 4 Developers: Please continue to use Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2
Mark Wilson-ThomasMSFT18 hours 18 minutes agoSilverlight 3 projects are supported with the Visual Studio 2010 Release Candidate build – however Silverlight 4 projects are not yet supported.
We will be adding Visual Studio 2010 Release Candidate support for Silverlight 4 with the next public Silverlight 4 drop.
If you are doing active Silverlight 4 development today we recommend staying with the Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 build for now.
