Can we use Virtual Mcahines for AGENTS
- Hi,
I have General Q?
Can we use Virtual Machines created on VMware LabManager for Agents ? Is this will have any Imapct on performace Test part?
If I say 4GB RAM with 2 processor config can I generate 1000 user load?
what is Max memory i can use for agents to avoid out of memory exceptions?
I was using 4GB RAM PC for agents with one processor it was throwing exception outof memory with simulating 200 users.
Thank you

- Hi,
First you can use VM for agents.
4GB RAM with 2 processors is very nice, but 1000 it depands on which test you are running.
outof memory can happand in 10 users. are you running Web Test, Unit Test?
Try writing a smaller test and than test it again.
The VM works on 64bit?

- Thank you for your reply.
I am running recorded web test.
example: User action on website like navigation to few pages and login to account and logout type of scenarios. These are normal small web tests.
Based On this type test scenarios how many users can i simulate without running out of memory with default think time.
I can genrate max of 200 users with 4GB RAM and one processor system- after 10 min load test agent throwing exception out of memory .
Is there any specfic condtions /specification to simulate 1000 user load without any error ?
Is there any doucments other than Agent installation /instructions/config Guiide .
Thanks
Rav Shai is correct that the condition depends on different test.
Please check Ed's blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/edglas/pages/load-agent-and-load-controller-installation-and-configuration-guide.aspx
"The amount of load that a specific load agent can generate varies widely from test to test. Most tests are bound by the CPU. CPU use is directly proportional to requests per second (RPS). For other load tests, memory is the limiting factor. The RPS you can expect to drive from a load agent depends upon many factors. These include the following:· User load
· Think time
· Authentication scheme
· Size of requests and responses
· Response time
· Level of response validation
· Test Type under load (either Web Test or Unit Test)"
