Cannot connect to local test controller

Hi
I reopen this thread as I face the same issue:
cannot connect to local test controller
I have VS2008 and VS2010 installed on my PC. Now I installed a Test Controller on my system and a Test Agent on a remote system. The Test Agent properly connected to my Controller. However I can't connect from VS2010 to my local controller. If I go to Test -> Manage Test Controller and specify my local Controller (tried localhost as well as FQDN) VS2010 freezes...
I started VS2010 with my user as well as administrator. I also didn't get any error messages during installation of Test Controller and I added all the users (administrator and myself) to the new controller-user-groups.

Hi Dunken,
Thank you for posting in the MSDN forum.
Based on your description, it seems that your VS and Controller are at the same PC, the agent is at the other PC.
If so, I’m afraid that you should check your “Event Viewer” to get the Error messages.
Based on the error message, and then you could check it with the following article.
Troubleshooting Guide for Visual Studio Test Controller and Agent.

Hi Jack
Thanks for helping me. Indeed, my Event Log has four entries all ending with "No such host is known". How can my controller not know the host? I can connect, ping, and so on to my remote system. It's also in the same domain... And as I said the Agent is "online".
Troubleshooting Guide doesn't help too and neither does Google.

Hi Dunken,
Glad to receive your reply.
No such host is known
(1) Make sure you are a local administrator on the test controller machine, and that the Windows Firewall closed.
(2) Under the controller name you should write the <machineName>:port and not serviceName:port.
This is a similar thread, Anuj and I gave some suggestions, if possible, see test agent can't regedit with the test controller.
Reference:
Unable to register test agent with test controller. Hope it could help.
