Locked test agent can't regedit with the test controller

  • Friday, September 16, 2011 8:10 AM

    hi all

I set up a test controller in domain A and a test agent in domain B, B has the trust relation ship with A.

I set up the agent and controller use testdomain as a local administrator to install them. But when i configured

the test agent to regedit with the controller, it failed. The following is the log information. And i notice in the log

that the VSTTAgent service is not installed. And i open the services.msc, there is no this service in the panel.

And use the command: net start vsttagent , showed the service name is invalid. And have reinstalled the

test agent, this problem still happened. I use the test agent and controller are both 2010, and i also installed the

sp1. Could anyone give me some help? Thank you

    Hi,

From the below exception it looks like the machine name resultion isnt working:

Got two machine names as healthtest01.farest.corp.microsoft.com and HEALTH01. Got exception in dns lookup: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): No such host is known

Can you try cofiguring with a static IP or change the machine name to a unique value.

    Thanks,

    Anuj

    Hello,

How about this issue going on? Can Anuj's suggestion help?

You have to make sure you have installed Controller and Agents normally, see Installing and Configuring Visual Studio Agents and Test and Build Controllers.

In addition, two similar thread, see Not able to configuration Test Agent and Failed to register this test agent with the test controller.

    Thanks,

    Hi DivineEagle,

I just changed the controller computer name to an other value that solved this problem. Hope this can help you!
