Based on your description, I need to make sure that, like this article here, do you mean that you are using the Intellitrace in MTM?
Like Clemens’s reply in this thread, we know that the Test Manager can be used for any language, but several features aren't supported for some configurations. Based on this article, you will get the information about the Intellitrace.

Thanks Jack. Yes, I was referring to Intellitrace in MTM. My automation test is written in C#, but the service API I am testing is written in Java. Looks like Intellitrace in MTM can not capture stack trace for Java services API.
