TF60032: failed to migrate from Visual SourceSafe to Team Foundation
Hi,

I have a Visual Studio .net 2003 project to migrate to Team Foundation. The source code is currently managed by Visual SourceSafe 6. According to a walkthrough, I need to convert to SourceSafe 2005 first and than to Team Foundation.

The version of SourceSafe 2005 I have is Beta 2. There is no problem to use it to manage the source code. However, when I run the command VSSConverter, I receive the following error message:

TF60032: The VSS Converter requires Visual SourceSafe 2005 or later to run. Please install Visual SourceSafe 2005 or later and try again.

The problem is, if I have Team Explorer installed on my client machine first, I cannot install SourceSafe 2005 because of a clash in .net Framework 2. If I have SourceSafe 2005 installed first, Team Explorer will ask me to remove it before installation (so I have uninstalled SourceSafe 2005).

Is the problem SourceSafe 2005 Beta 2 related, or I have done anything else incorrectly (I have Team Explorer installed but not a full version of Visual Studio 2005. I run VSSConverter from a Windows XP command prompt, not that from Visual Studio 2005 as it does not exist).

Thanks for any information to assist solving this problem.

Ming

© 2009 Microsoft Corporation.
