Can't reinstall or uninstall the Visual Studio Tean System Team Suite 2008

Question

I Have uninstalled all visual studio components but still can't unistall the VS team system team suite 2008. If I try to change or remove the team suite it stops with the message "A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Canceling setup.", any idea how I can fix this problem?

OS: Vista Business

My other question is if I build a solution with VS team system can other developer in the team that have only visual studio 2008 or visual studio express open the project solution file and work with the project?

For your second question, if a project is created in VSTS 2008, the project also can be opened in VS Pro 2008.

Unless you create any projects that are Team Edition specific. Like a Data Dude project, or Load test bits :)

I'm having same issue.  I uninstalled every possible thing i could.  still cannot uninstall vs2008 team suite.  The autouninstall tool throws this error:

I should note that this is a Visual Studio 2008 Team Suite installation with Service Pack 1 installed, running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit build 7100 (RC).

Same problem. Uninstall tool gives that xml error. I don't know how to solve it

Ok I found it!

After you patch with this hotfix and then run the Visual Studio Uninstaller it won't give the error and you will be able to run setup any way you please

I got around by uninstall all the hotfixs and patches first. Then can run uninstaller successfully.

I have the same problem..I can neither uninstall visual studio 2008 team suite nor run the program. 

 

The only message I receive is:

A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Cancelling setup.

If I try to uninstall each patch of visual studio 2008 in installed updates section, it throws another error:

Another program is being installed. Please wait until that installation is complete, and then try installing this software again.

What is the actual problem? please help...

This worked for me! After multiple failed attempts to change my Vistual Studio Team Suite installation, I kept getting the same error message:  "A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Canceling setup.". I patched my VS installation w. this hotfix suggested by Deus and after that the installer worked seamlessly. Thanks so much Deus.
