VSTSDB support for SQL Server 2008 R2
VSTSDB support for SQL Server 2008 R2
- Hi all,
I have some questions as to what's next with VSTSDB:
- Will VSTSDB be supporting SQL Server 2008 R2 coming up next year ?
- What would be the impact regarding licensing of "merging the feature sets of the Development Edition and the Database Edition into a single product." (for now, one need to buy 2 licences separately: 1 for VS Development Edition and 1 for VSTSDB) ?
- Is it possible to have a deadline as to when Intellisense will be available in VSTSDB (sorry for asking again...) ?
Thanks in advance.

- The Visual Studio 2010 release of the Data Dude bits supports SQL Server 2008 R2. You can use the Beta 2 release today if you want to. The VSTSDB GDR R2 release should work with SQL 2008 R2 but we haven't tested against the lastest public release. If there are compatibility issues I anticipate that we would fix them in a HotFix for GDR R2.
Last year we announced that VSTS 2008 Database Edition or Developer edition Licensees are now licensed for the other product. The details are contained in this press release: http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2008/sep08/09-29VS10PR.mspx. Specifically:

As a benefit to existing Software Assurance (SA) customers, those who currently own Visual Studio Team System 2008 Development Edition or Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition will receive all the following products starting Oct. 1, 2008, for free

IntelliSense is now available in the Visual Studio 2010 release. Download Beta 2 and check it out: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/dd582936.aspx
