Locked Saving the password for VSS projects

I have three different projects that are available in VSS that require me to login each time I open them. Every time I login I make sure the "Save password" checkbox is checked, but it doesn't appear to work. Is there any way to get this checkbox working? Our computers are not setup with active directory, so I do not login to my computer with the same credentials that I use to access VSS.

Are you getting the Windows login dialog (to access the share) or the SourceSafe login dialog (to access the database)?  What OS are you using?

I'm getting the Windows login dialog if I open the solution from the Visual Studio start page. I am using Windows XP SP2.

Try clearing your saved credentials from Control Panel.  (I forget exactly where this is in XP.)

Another thing to test is whether you can browse to the VSS share in Explorer w/o having to type a password.

I tried clearing the credentials and it didn't help. I also found out that I do have to provide my password when accessing the share in explorer.

After doing a little bit of research I also found the policy
"Network Access: Do not allow Stored User Names and Passwords to save passports or credentials for domain authentication" missing from my local security settings. Since it sounds like it might have something to do with my problem, I'm going to try to figure out why it's not showing up.
