    Hi Elsamelghi,

    Thank you for your reply.

after that ,I run Verification Tool which deleted all versions of .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 perfectly well

Verification Tool is applied to automatically perform a set of steps to verify the installation state of one or more versions of the .NET Framework on a computer.
To remove .NET Frameworks, we should try .NET Framework Cleanup Tool: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx .

From the log files, I found the following error snippet:

    Hi Elsamelghi,

Thank you for your reply. :)

I looked into the log files and found that the previous error of .NET Framework 3.5 installation was solved. :)

However, now the following new error snippet occurred:

[11/02/09,20:02:18] Microsoft Document Explorer 2008: ***ERRORLOG EVENT*** : c:\softwares\vb\visual_studio_2008_professinal\setup\..\wcu\dexplore\dexplore.exe could not be unpackaged because it is not a cabinet .

This error message usually happens when the file is corrupted or the media is damaged.

To solve this error, could you please try the following points?
    - Temporarily turn off any anti-virus software
    - If you download the installer from the website, please try using some download manager software to help downloading the package again.
    - If you install VS2008 from CD\DVD media, please copy all the files of installer to your HDD and install it again on HDD
    - If the installer is one ISO image, please try:
      1. Extract the ISO image, to your local computer, that you have just created using something like ISOBuster and run the installation from the harddrive/harddisk.
      2. Mount the ISO image to a virtual CD drive, using another 3rd party tool something like MSVCD, and run the installation from here.

If the above suggestions don't work, you can manually download it from http://cid-75a4db78b1d41bb2.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/DExplore.exe  and install it. Then run the VS2008 installer again.

Hope this helps. If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.

    Hi Elsamelghi,

Welcome to MSDN forums. And thank you for your post.

    Some clarification with you:
    What's your OS?

Based on your description, it seems that you want to uninstall Visual 2008 products to start from scratch.

If yes, could you please try the following points step by step for further troubleshooting?

    Step1:
Run AutoUninstall Tool: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/bb968856.aspx to clear Visual Studio 2008 products

    Step2:
Run .NET Framework Cleanup Tool: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx
For Windows XP or Server 2003, please remove .NET Framework 3.5 >> 3.0 >> 2.0 in order.
For Vista or later OS, please remove .NET Framework 3.5. Then follow these steps:
    - Check whether you have turned on the windows feature of .NET Framework 3.0.
Please go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off -> Check the box next to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0.
    - Use Verification Tool to verify .Net Framework 2.0, 3.0. If .Net Framework 2.0 and 3.0 cannot be verified on your computer, you can try to follow the steps mentioned in the following blog to repair the .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0.
    See: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2007/03/26/how-to-repair-the-net-framework-2-0-and-3-0-on-windows-vista.aspx

    Step3:
Run Visual Studio 2008 installer again.
If any problem during the installation, please try to use collect tool to collect the log files of VS2008 from your "%temp%" folder.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/heaths/archive/2008/05/09/visual-studio-and-net-log-collection-utility.aspx
You can upload your log files to SkyDrive and post the link back here.
    Steps:
    - Try to clean your "%temp%" folder (Start Menu >> Run... >> Type "%temp%")
    - Install Visual Studio 2008
(For Vista or later, the installer must be run with administrator privileges - Right-click the installer >> "Run as Administrator")
    - Collect the logs from "%temp%" folder
    - Upload vslogs.cab file

Hope this helps! If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.

    Best regards,
    Yichun Chen

Thank you for your reply. Could you please provide me more information of your OS? Could you please help me to use Verification Tool that I posted above to verify .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 on your machine? What's the result of verification?

    Hi Elsamelghi,

    It's my pleasure!

I'm so glad to hear that Visual Studio 2008 Pro Edition has been installed. Cheer!

For your concern on MSDN installation, I would suggest you to try Developer Documentation and Help System
forum. You will get more useful help there. This will make answer searching in the forum easier and be beneficial to other community members as well.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,
    Yichun Chen
