VS 2010 Express Instillation Error .NET Framework 4

Question

 

Ok recently I tried downloading the Express Version of VS 2010 and I've even tried downloading 2008 Express but each time I download it, it downloads fine but on the instillation, every time I get to installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 or i think 3/3.5 for 2008 it stops working and says there was an Error or Fatal Error installing it. I've researched it trying to see what the problem was or how to fix it but most of the Threads get way to confusing to follow.

If anyone has any Ideas, or experiences with this and might know how to get it to work let me.

Also I read that I need Framework 2.0 3.0 and 3.5 to get 4.0 but whenever I try to install 3.5 SP1 (Full Package) it starts to install then i get the error:

Hi SLY985,

Do you mean you have installed VS 2008 Express, and recently you want to install Express Version of VS2010, and the .NET Framework 4 is not installed correctly?

If yes, I think you can use the following tool to verify what version of .NET Framework did you have installed.

ok so i used the tool that you suggested and came up with some interesting but i still dont know if it matters results. It says i only have .NET version 2 and no service packs, i dont even have v1 so im going to try and maybe download them in order and see if it works if not ill post an error report (if one) with the .NET diagnostic and see if i find anything else, but thank you anyways.

P.S. the reason why im doing this is because im hoping to get VS2010 express so i can start coding maybe, but from what some people are telling me VS2010 wont work with Windows XP fundamentals for Legacy. Anyways thanks and ill keep you posted.

So i updated the .NET all the way up to v2 SP2 and after installing sp2 i went to install v3 and it failed like right at the beginning of installing and came up with an error and the error report said:

well after reading it and it saying the WIC installer wasnt installed i went online and installed it but it said i already had a version that was better already on my computer, afterwards i tried getting rid of the .NET v2 SP2 and leaving it with SP1 and i tryed installing .NET v3 once more and came up with the SAME and i mean identical error report:

and as you can see from the dates, ive been having it looks, like the same error every day since trying to get this to work  :\

im baffeled on what to maybe do, im just getting into programming and hoping to soon one day know what some of this means but as for right now im no where close to being a pro, so if you have any ideas that would be awesome or if anyone does, thanks

(also if its needed info, when i went to change/remove the .NET v2 SP2 i clicked change and it popped up that it wasnt working correctly and to repair it, well when i repaired it, it didnt open any window when i clicked change again so i just completely removed .NET v2 SP2 and got rid of .NET v2 completely and re-downloaded it so CURRENTLY i have everything on your diagnostic program from .NET v1 all the way to only, .NET v2 SP1, i didnt know if that would be useful info.)

Its been awhile since ive been on here but im back again, yet it still says that each time i try to install .NET v3.0 or 3.5 or 4.0 it says fatal error and then stops im pretty sure i already have .NET 2.0 or 3.0 on here because when i try to download it again it says its not compatible, i have no idea how to fix this im not a .NET person and to tell you the truth i probably will never want to be, if anyone could help me out that would be great, i really need this to start working on a few projects i need to pull together
