[Win 7] VS11 icons still remain after uninstall

Hello, thanks for reading my question. a few days ago i decided to install the visual studio 11 beta. After about a week of messing around with it, i decided that i wanted to revert back to visual studio 2010. After uninstalling vs11 through the control panel, and deleting the temporary VS11 files in the %appdata% and %temp% directories, i noticed that the icons from visual studio 11 were showing up in the startpage of vs 2010. See the picture below for reference.

I have already tried the following things:
- Uninstalling and Reinstalling VS 2010
- Clearing the %Temp% folder
- Deleting the "IconCache.db" file and restarting the computer
- Running "devenv /ResetSettings" from command line
- Searching on this forum and Google, with no results.
Thanks for reading this, and i hope you can answer my question.

Hi trewq343, besides running the /ResetSettings switch, have you tried the following below?
- devenv /safemode
- devenv /setup -

Hi Trewq343,
I think this behavior is unnecessary. The installation of Visual Studio 11 Beta should not lead to the changes on the start page of Visual Studio 2010. I reported this issue to Microsoft Connect and wait for the solution: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/729325/the-project-icons-in-the-start-page-of-visual-studio-2010-became-the-same-of-visual-studio-11-beta-after-visual-studio-11-beta-installed
If you have any other problems, please feel free to let me know.Best Regards,

The "solution" is "fixed in a subsequent release of VS11".
WAIT WAIT WAIT There should be a fix independent of VS11!
This has to be something in the registry, methinks.

I encountered the same problem, and I have resolved it.
The following is the solution:
1.Rename or remove this folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\MSEnv
2.Reinstall VS2010.
Hope this will be helpful.- Proposed As Answer by Ning huabo Thursday, March 22, 2012 3:06 AM
